The X Files (TV series)

Looks like this is finally official(ish).

The complete series boxset is coming to BD in December.

My only complaint is that it's not individual season releases. Not only is a complete boxset going to be very expensive, I didn't like season 9 and know I won't watch it.

You just know there is going to be another release shortly after with the new season included though. I will wait for that one.

Considering how fondly remembered and loved the series is I would have expected something new like a feature-length documentary. But frankly something - anything - new would have been nice.

I'm starting to worry now. If they haven't bothered making an effort with the special features, I'm starting to worry how much of an effort they made to the remastering.

They clearly don't care enough to add anything new, so I'm somewhat cautious now.

I've seen the First Season in restored HD and it looks really nice... I never had the DVD set, that looks like a lot of stuff. Shame they haven't thrown in the movies and as you say, some retrospective features. Maybe they are saving that stuff for the new series sets.

Is the Wondercon panel feature new?

All announcements I've seen say that individual seasons ARE getting released.

The link in OPs post now states this. Might be time to get whatever I can for my DVDs.

Got mine for £99.99. Not as good as £97.50, but it's still only £11.11 a season.

I've watched the first eight episodes of the first season, and I am seriously very impressed.

The remastered HD image is clean, crisp and clear. The widescreen ratio really opens up the show, and the DTS-HD audio is just as good.

My one Very minor complaint is that the lettering used in the opening titles and opening episode credits seems to have changed ever-so-slightly.

But on the plus side the whole bluray experience is like watching the show for the first time all over again.

Got mine for £90 because I got a £10 partial refund due to a broken case. Also many people have received slash boxes from box cutters by Amazon. I have a dent going across the front. I will be piking up some new cases out fo the £10 and hope they will be a better fit to the tight box.

Loving the PQ.

I was wondering about that coz I was dead careful opening it and then noticed the thin line across the front of the box. Might contact them about a replacement if it's a known problem then.

It seems every oen from Amazon is like that which why I accepted the refund but should have chanced another set anyway. I could have also swapped cases about to get more of the Viva Elite ones (season 2) rather than the tighter fitting Amaray ones (like the Hobbit blu ray).

How did you manage to get some money off without having to send the item back?

Got the same scratches on my boxset, but it seems to get a replacement I'll have to send the damn thing back.

I'd prefer a small refund.

For a replacement you have to send one back after the replacement comes. I decided to settle to keep the box and accepted a £10 refund. Someone else who got a bad replacement also got £10 off. He ended up making the best out of the situation and swapped cases around then got one of the boxes to be picked up by courier to go back to Amazon next day.

Set up my replacement today. Web chatted with Amazon who arranged for DPD to come and collect the damaged boxset same day (they arrived 20 minutes after I spoke to Amazon!) and the replacement arrives tomorrow.

Edit: Amazon replacement arrived today and it's fine. No marks on it.

Looks like the boxset was a limited edition - seems to be sold out in most places and going for silly money on eBay and Amazon Marketplace.

damn, didn't realise that. Not heard anywhere that it was limited. Even the separate season sets seemed to have disappeared too now Hoping its just in the run up for season 10.
