Forbidden planet confusion!

Am I being an idiot?
Is Forbidden Planet a completely different set-up to http://forbiddenplanet.com/ ?
If so, which is the "real" one?

(this might want to be in suppliers I guess but I figured FP users would frequent this forum more maybe!)

Erm... I've been using .co.uk assuming it was the 'real' one. The stock does seem to mirror the store (London) pretty much.

But looking at those two websites side by side, the .com is definitely the real one. I'm 99% sure that the .com address hasn't been live all this time though, as I distinctly recall being surprised in the past that they were only using .co.uk. Maybe the company have split, or are in a transitional period.

Definitely want to know more now!

And why do they have different stores? I am either really confused or really stupid or both!

Hmmm. Looks like there's been a divorce and they forgot to tell the kids!

Yeah - the original co-owners of the first FP had an amicable divorce and split the chain into Forbidden Planet and Forbidden Planet International. They agreed that if they were opening in the same city as the other, whoever got there first would get the name - so we have an FP in Brum, and Nostalgia & Comics, owned by Forbidden Planet International (tho' Nostalgia have been around for donkeys before the takeover)
