Thanks folks, ordered this along with the Survival Guide. Any difference with World War Z other than the covers?

Just ordered World War Z...the Survival guide is apparently mentioned in this, but do I really need to read it first?

i can't see the point of reading the guide, its not a story is it? if it was a Ł2.99 add on, maybe, as a jokey xmas present, but not as a full book.

Ohm they have this graphic novel Zombie guide: recorded attacked. due out next year.

Looks like this novel has new competition...

Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry is out later this month & the new issue of SFX magazine has scored it a maximum five outta five. It's described as "24-with-Zombies" and I quote...

"...one of the most exciting thrillers we've read in years, and arguably the greatest Zombie novel, far superior to the vastly over-rated World War Z for example."

I'm tempted to give it a go.

Nice one Tony, I have taken a punt on that.

Handling the Undead by the author of 'Let the Right One In' sounds interesting too

Loved World War Z and the other one I read but have forgotten the title!

Will take a punt on those two. Screen shots for World War Z movie look great.

Just finished both the Survival guide and WWZ and loved both. Now whilst watching some recent zombie movies I've been shouting at the TV to get a head shot in!! Can't wait for the movie and I really hope JMS does the source material justice.

Just finished that "Patient Zero" book. It's a fantastic, entertaining read with lots of well-written action scenes, but it lacks the ambition & scope of World War Z. Definitely recommended though for any Zombie fans out there.

ahh, must give this a go.

Looking forward to World War Z movie - If they get it 50% right or more - it will be worth a watch.

I really hope they keep General Raj Singh in the movie. I know the chances are he won't be but I always loved the idea of a giant Indian general seriosly having it with thousands of Zombies to save what's left of his nation.

One of the most poignant scenes in the book

Where have you seen screen-shots for the movie? I wasn't even aware that they started shooting it yet. IMDB.com has it still listed as being in pre-production.

My apologies, it was artwork not screenshots. They can be found http://io9.com/5140561/world-war-z-c...tle-of-yonkers

I'll apologise in advance...

World War Z bores me

I'm not trying to be reactionist or awkward but it does

I commute every morning and back every evening, if a book is particularly involving i'll plough through it rather than listen to the radio.

But World War Z has sent me to sleep more than any other book

I'm not a great fan of short stories, I love Zombie films and books, but 300 pages into it and so near the end, I'm tempted to give up.

I dont understand it, as it has almost univeral acclaim, and is highly rated on here, but I'm just not enjoying it.

You're not alone, Sleep4ever

I had huge expectations for this after the great reviews here and elsewhere, but it's one of the few boos that I've dipped in and out of and just don't have the urge to keep picking up - probably a major reason for that being the episodic nature of the book, meaning you never really have a character to root for beyond a few pages.

I enjoyed the nice buildup and the initial wave of devastation, but after a few months I've only got about halfway through it and it's a real effort to carry on

It's horses for courses. I love it and have read it at least 4 times and bought the audio version.

There is better zombie stories out there, try "White Flag of the Dead" on Kindle, but for a global picture of zombie armageddon you can't beat WWZ.
