To be fair, they in turn have pinched a whole lot of The Orville’s feel for season 2

BTW no Orville in the US next week so you’ll only be 6 and a bit days behind from next week.

It smacked of the "Data has a girlfriend" TNG episode to me. Slightly different though, and one really quite disturbing scene IMO.

I have given up on it. It has its moments but I just found I was bored more than I was enjoying it

The moustache at beginning just made me switch off
Felt i could be watching TNG (again) rather than watching it.

I really enjoyed the Claire/Isaac romance episode. A fun sci-fi "what if?" done with some really lovely touches. I also thought that the moustache really suited Bortas!

Really enjoyed ep7 (Deflectors) it may have done before (the basic premise) but its the characters, they feel fleshed out unlike discovery. Talla Keyali feels like a strong character despite not being in the show for long

Utterly brilliant TV, hopefully their 'best of both worlds' moment. Which given the age of the show is quite an achievement. Having the Doctor/Isaac relationship not be a one off episode gave this some real heart.

Well played Seth Macfarlane for creating a Star Trek show we all want. It's clear he gets what makes Trek, actually, trek, which is great when you compare it against the abomination that is STD.

I think 3 times this season at the start of the episode I've been like "oh great another relationship episode" but by the end of each I've felt that was actually great, it tackles issues and isn't preachy at all and like 5x5 says, it's because the characters are actually fleshed out and actual people. While STD is busy killing mansplainers to make a point, The Orville is busy killing redshirts in good old Star Trek tradition.

Ep 8 was one of the best episodes of TV I've seen in years, long may it continue.

It was a fantastic episode but I really hope they don’t do a reset button or a situation where Isaac becomes the last of his kind.

Well, that kicked off big time! Excellent episode even if the first half did seem pretty routine.

Malloy's singing voice was still the biggest shock of all though!

Edit - I didn't realise he plays Steve in American Dad.

Double Edit - Or that he's engaged to Adrianne Palicki in real life!

I think this is the biggest strength of the show, it starts out one way and goes off in some unexpected way.

Episode 8 was a great example of this and boy was it good.

Wait ... Scott Grimes was in ER? I knew he was Steve in American Dad but had no idea about ER.
