[Netflix] Bloodline - from creators of Damages

Firstly, I'm sure I saw a thread on this before but can't see it. Have I missed it?, please merge/close if poss.

Get your peepers around this trailer:

I'm liking the look of this. Damages was a great courtroom thriller and this trailer looks like it'll carry a lot of the same intrigue, backstabbery and nastiness that made that show such a sinister-y treat. Love the Metallica cover too.

Starts at the end of March.

I'm in.

First couple of seasons of Damages were IMO some of the best drama on TV.

Big fan of Damages so will be all over this. Good looking cast too. Read an interview with the creators & apparently it will have a similar structure to Damages, with lots of flash-forwards & flash-backs & they have designed it to be binge-watching-friendly as they were aware that Netflix would be punting it out in one big splurge.

Same here - we loved Damages, so thanks for the heads-up on this. Not even on my radar until now!

really like the actor who plays the elder brother in the trailer - can't remember his name but he was in Killing Them Softly - an Aussie I think

I'm 10 episodes in and can say with confidence that it'll be in my top 5 of 2015.

Brilliant use of flashbacks and forwards that reveal just a hint of where the story is going without completely de-railing the episode. It's a slow burner but the characters are well written and the acting is pretty stellar. Ben Mendelsohn in particular is outstanding.

I'm trying to eek these out but the damn auto play feature of Netflix keeps me sucked in.

With the exception of Hemlock Grove which did nothing for me Netflix has had a remarkable run of original programing.

There's a Netflix version of Ritchie rich that could be the worst TV show of all time.

Loving it too, 2 episodes left to watch. This series has been excellent.

4 episodes into this and it's boring me to death, tell me it gets better - please !
Really tired of the stupid shock revelation endings as well.

Have to admit, I'm two in and it's boring me as well. There's nothing wrong with slow... Rectify is one of my favourite shows, but outside of the pretty scenery shots and Chloe Sevigny's ass this doesn't really have much going for it. I'm already bored with the "oooh, is he good? is he bad?!" twist I guess we get every episode.

And baloobas, I've read it's this pace right up until the last couple of episodes :/ I can see it being a real mission getting there!

It is a slow burner and the use of flashback/forwards do get more interesting as the plot evolves but if you're bored of the characters this early then I doubt you'll find much interest in the rest of the season.

Me personally, I loved the slow paced nature of it. The further you get invested in the characters, their everyday lives and relationships with each other then the greater the pay off at the end imo.

If it's not floating your boat by episode 4/5 then I'd bow out.

Was a bit concerned that it was gripping me after 4 or 5 episodes but stuck with and really glad I did as it was superb after that, binge watched the last 8 eps straight.

Finished this today, felt like a 2hr story stretched out over 13hrs and the ending smacked of "we need another scene, we've just been renewed for a second season". Not great.

Just finished this after umming an ahhing when it was initially released. A cracking drama. Could easily have fallen into potboiler territory but is elevated by a killer cast, especially Ben Mendelsohn who was hands down fantastic. As a 2 hour story this would've been a generic, throwaway thriller, but the slowburning characterization worked wonders here. Easily on of Netflix's most impressive productions yet.

Just Finished this also, really enjoyed it. I must admit initially the attraction was location it was set in but you soon get drawn into the family and Characters. It was like reading a good book I didn't really want to get to the end, but I couldn't help watching the next one.

I was fine with the pacing, someone mentioned Rectify which I also enjoy but I found that slower than this.

I also agree with Robby easily in my top 5 of 2015.

Finished watching this at the weekend after slowly savouring it at a 2eps-per-week pace.

Fantastic show, probably in my top-five of the year. A slow burner, but the depth in characterisation & the great acting across the board, really sold how it all played out in the last couple of episodes.

Have no issues continuing the story onto a second season. The two plot strings introduced at the end of S1 should generate an intriguing continuation of what happens next...
