Playing Hanabi last night and had to stop midway through a game. Too tired to concentrate and couldn't remember anything Mrs T told me about my cards! Gonna be a love/hate thing with this one.

I played eight minute empire for the first time last night. Great little game!

Just had a quick look at Amazon reviews for it and looks good. Had to grimace at the sexist comments though!

Weird and irrelevant!

The game we played we didn't go for a remove cube card.

There's quite a lot to think about for such a short, straightforward game.

How big are all the bits? Is it a holiday game?

Super small, so yes a good holiday game.

You could leave the board (which is still very small), print out a paper map, take the deck of cards (standard size) and a small bag of cubes and you're away....

We played the tabletop version of Carcassonne last night. I've had it for ages, it's a Rio Grande edition, not Z-Man, but it hasn't hit the table in three or four years as I've been heavily into the amazing iOS version instead. It was so nice though to play the physical version again. It doesn't matter how good digital versions get, you can't beat sitting round with family and friends playing a proper tabletop version of a game. I'll be certainly be breaking Carcassonne out more often now I've rediscovered it.

Are the Z-Man printed Carcassonne expansions compatible with the older Rio Grande game by the way, or are the tiles a different size?

I'm pretty certain I have the Rio Grande version and have some of the more recent expansions. Must admit tho, I hadn't noticed they were made by someone else...

I had my first game of the second edition of Luchador Mexican Wrestling Dice tonight. I've only played my copy of the first edition a few times as I found it quite ordinary but I thought the greater components of the second edition, making it even more thematic with the proper 3D ring, etc would win me over. As it is it was still quite a dull experience. Hopefully the advanced rules will make for a better game but as it is, if I want to smash someone in the face using dice I'll stick to King of Tokyo and King of New York.

Possibly not the right place to post this, but I'm looking for recommendations for a game for Xmas. Needs to be <£20, something I can play 2 player with the wife, but also 4 player with the patents, so easy to pick up rules that can be fully explained easily pre game 1 on Xmas day... Any suggestions?!!

Thanks. They both seem almost too simple... Do they have lots of replay value?

They are simple, but good for Christmas 'quick to teach' games.

Have a look at;

Pandemic (just above £20)- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Z-Man-Games-...864416&sr=1-46

Forbidden Desert - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gamewright-4...K2BBKKAKQDJB4T

Both a bit more complex, and both cooperative.

Carcassone. Very easy rules, leave put farmers to start with (or possibly altogether). 2 player can get pretty brutal though

Scotland Yard is pretty cheap on Amazon, and can be played with 2-6 players.

It's *really* a 2 player game, but with more players you can cooperate together on 1 person and it's still fun. It's pretty easy to learn and think it's a good group game.

Heya. The pirate deck I've only seen as part of the original kickstarter unfortunately. You can mail games lore and ask them if they'd look to stock it as I've done, as I agree it's the best looking deck
