Black Sails - Pirates!!

I've just read of this series being started in the US, it's available online (legally) before the show starts in the US. More here: http://www.engadget.com/2014/01/13/b...line-premiere/

Not on Netflix it seems, but you might be able to catch it on YouTube

Quite enjoyed that - picks up right where Spartacus left off really

Based on the hugely positive reaction for episode one at last years San Diego Comic Con, the network producing this show, Starz, has already ordered a second season.

Not quite up to the first episode of Spartacus but enjoyable none the less, I thought they introduced slightly too many characters in this episode and the blond tavern owner/daughter needs to learn to act.

It's on Starz and she's playing a foul mouthed bisexual that will no doubt get them out proper in upcoming episodes so she don't need to act

Thought this was pretty crap actually - the script was poor with acting to match. I'll give it a chance to improve though.

I enjoyed it. Thankfully more akin to Spartacus than Camelot. Toby Stephens always plays a good sneaky *******.

Although I've found news of other European countries picking this up, I can't find any mention yet of any UK broadcast. Maybe they're waiting for the ratings figures before making a decision.

Enjoying this. Not Spartacus yet but I'm giving it time. Just quite nice to see a pirate show tbh.

And she did, and improved on the acting front too.

Will continue to watch.

Not fantastic (as of yet anyway) but I can see it filling the guilty pleasure ticket much like Spartacus did

Fun enough but the acting is atrocious - Toby Stephens seems like Brando compared to the others.

Spartacus worked because it was so over the top in every respect that you couldn't help falling in love with it and the characters in it.
This so far seems like the diet version, but there's plenty of time for it to improve.

The acting is indeed terrible though!

Having said that episode 2 was a lot better

Yeah, I didn't think it possible to make a show about Pirates so dull & boring. I struggled a little with the opener as it introduced a zillion characters but enjoyed the second as things started to happen but it ground to a halt this week. They need to set sail & get onto the high seas ASAP!

The two quartermasters are the best characters in this so far. John Silver is just a Baltar clone. The other quatermaster reminds me of Littlejohn fron GOT. As for the Vinny Jones wannabe
Still, I'm hanging in there, hoping we get some actual pirating soon.
