The Office (US) Season 9 - final season. It ends very well.

This is terrible news. She was / is awful.

I'm out. She's actually not as bad in this as she is in everything else she's ever made, but I'm out. Too much good stuff piling up to justify this now.

She's been one of the best things about the last season. I don't get the hate?

I thought she was good this season too. I don't get the Tate hate either, she was terrific in doctor who as well.

A cringeworthy awful impersonation of Gervais's character - executed horribly by a woman who is dreadfully unfunny (did anyone actually every laugh at her 'bovvered' sketch?).

For me, she (both her character and the actress) go completely against the grain of what made the American The Office brilliant.

But hey, each to their own!

Hate her comedy. Love her in Doctor Who. Think she was one of the better things about the last season of The Office.

So a thumbs up from me.

I just hope that, whoever they take on for S9, that they have an actual plan in place. As opposed to the random and barely thought through plotting of the last couple of seasons.

The potential return of Greg Daniels as showrunner sounds promising as does this earlier quote from the now-departed Paul Lieberstein.

Quote:
[Paul] Lieberstein… hints that [in Season 9], there might be a switch back to how things were during the bulk of the show’s run. “I have a romantic feeling for the simplicity of the single-manager structure,” he says. “Next year might see a return to it.” Not surprisingly, Lieberstein wouldn’t elaborate further, except to say that there almost certainly won’t be multiple layers of management at the Scranton office.

I can't stand her but she was important part of an upturn in fortunes for the show (which was on a downward trend from way before Carrell left).

Her character is fine, as long as she isn't overly involved it'll be alright. I can understand the hatred of her but in this role it is a bit off the mark!

I'll probably keep watching, it does still produce the odd good moment, but it's well past it's prime. The writing was just so lazy last season, perfect example was Robert California,a great character idea at the start, brilliantly played by James Spader, but the writers couldn't make it last the season.

And S9 is officially to be the last one.

Probably about time - if not a bit late.

Well with Greg Daniels confirmed as showrunner, there is a real opportunity for it to go out on a high - so am cautiously optimistic...

Tate was the least of the show's problems last year - it was on uneven ground even before Carell left but he seemed to take what little inspiration was remaining with him.

Well, it's back! Thought it was a good start to the final season.

Kelli & Ryan are gone, but new cast members 'Dwight Jr' (good gag) & 'Plop' (terrible gag) look like they might have potential, & from the look of this thread, most of you will enjoy Catherine Tate getting the brunt of Andy's 'Re-venge'

& we finally get to hear the voices of the people making the documentary!

Creed's bit at the end cracked me up.

Agreed with both, not up there with the classics, but a good episode, better than I've seen for a good while

Thought this was pretty funny - liked how they wrapped up the 'is Dwight the father?' storyline really really quickly. Creed's bit at the end was ace what with the "dog that looked like a cat/dog food company" line.

Dwight on the slack line and at the end was hilarious, good stuff. Like that Andy has grown up a bit too, though clearly not completely!

Yep - despite my horribly cynical thread title I really enjoyed this! 9 out of 10. Shame Jim's leaving, him and Dwight have made the show for me.
