Sorry but it wouldn't. For example, Barca v Real is such a big game not just because of star name players but the historic rivalry and success of both teams. Utd v Liverpool will always be a bigger game worldwide than the Manchester derby because of the historic success of both clubs even when one of them isn't doing as well as they have in the past (Utd in the 80's Liverpool since the 80's ). Until (if? ) City have a few recent league titles and a Champions League under their belt most of the rest of the footballing world won't be that interested.

You've been in the valleys too long

Biggest game in the world (well in our house ). See I will have a blinkered view in that I'm surrounded by Red or Blue. I don't know many (very, very few) Liverpool fans. Or indeed people who are not City or United. So all the talk is about the derby, you don't get to banter about Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea because I don't know any (in real life )

So for the United fans I know the derby has more meaning, but I realise that's a Mancunian thing rather than a national or indeed international thing (yet!?!)

I have rambled on but I make sense in my own head. Yes you are right City need to be putting silverware on the board to get international recognition

It's not even a mancunian thing. The most banter between fans of opposing clubs is when they play each other. So you'll have most banter with United fans when the derby's on. Sam is probably right in that to United, the liverpool games are bigger. The fact that you don't get to see that as much doesn't mean it isn't the case.

Tidy butt I know it's big in Manchester (Derby games are one of the few times I get genuinely homesick) and it gets bigger the more equally matched the teams are ()especially if challenging for silverware). Don't get me wrong I love derby games the only point I was making is that as a world wide game its got along way to go before being one of the biggest games.

Giggs' incredible haul of 32 winners' medals includes 11 Premier League and two Champions League titles.

Scary that it really doesn't seem that long ago when he first started playing to me - how time flys!

Legend.

United vs Real Madrid/Barca is the biggest game in the world, nobody cares about City.

To be fair, playing as an attacker in the English game, makes him more unprecedented than those two surely?

Not to mention Maldini has 7 domestic league medals, to Giggs' imminent 12th. It's not all about the CL

Seedorf has 4. Ajax, Madrid and Milan x 2. He's also only won 2 league titles since he left Ajax over 15 years ago.

I think league medals would be more important to me as a player anyway...as long as I had at least 1 CL

Only 2 league titles? Incredible considering these teams are normally favourites to win their domestic leagues every year!, still 4x CL medals with 3 different clubs in 3 different leagues is pretty impressive for a player that barely gets mentioned much compared to all the big star players.
