Shows That Should Have Ended In Their Prime

Nothing worse than a great show running well past its sell by date.

Ones i can think of are Buffy & Oz.

Buffy at S5 which would have been a great bittersweet ending.

Oz at the end of the 1st half of S4 when they killed off its greatest character and before all the aging pill/ghosts nonsense.

Any other suggestions?

X-Files and I am expecting to think the same for Supernatural when it returns next season.

The first person who says 24 gets it

Heroes after season 1 and Alias come to mind

Doesn't this apply to pretty much every show that wasn't cancelled too early?

It went from essential viewing to ***** almost over night. I think possibly South Park just took what The Simpsons did, but did it better.

BSG.
BSG.
BSG.

Never have I gone from loving a show so much to complete indifference.

It had a weaker second half in season 3, but i thought it bounced back nicely in season 4

I thought the X-Files later seasons were great! If you go back and watch them now, they shine in comparison to the drivel that is most current television. Likewise, Buffy's final season was awesome!

It would've been great if Alias could've had a proper series conclusion properly planned for season three. The quality began to drop there but it still light years ahead of the dreck that was to follow.

Also would've liked BSG to have finished by the end of S2, as the final two series lost their way big-time.

I think all of these have been said already but i'll say them anyway:

Lost - end of S5
Prison Break - end of S2
Alias - end of S3

Buffy had a terrific final season!
If you think a show should end, just stop watching it!

Totally agree with anyone who says that the final seasons of both Lost and BSG were almost a total waste of time that served only to progress the story up its own arse.
