In my experience their employees stole my money so they deserve to be jobless.

I hope this leads to a proper shake up the retail store ethos. Yes, it's sad so many people are going to loose their jobs as there are a lot of people that have worked in these places for a long time and had good customer service. However, also a lot of these places had a lot of staff who couldn't care less, were unhelpful and weren't even any good at their job. In the same way companies are starting to bring their customer service phones lines back from India, shops need to realise that good customer service is more likely to keep people coming back - especially PC and electrical stores where people need to feel like spending the extra 5-10% compared to the web prices is worth it in terms of feeling secure that if something does go wrong the company will look after them.

As for me - the internet gets most of my trade these days as places like Amazon combine deent prices and good customer service.

Seems Land Of Leather may well be next, 160 stores and shares suspended at their request today with no buyer in sight it seems and probably very little working capital (if any!)

Seems it's not Findus, but Newcastle Productions, who make Findus stuff under license... including crispy pancakes. This could be devastating to the chav population! The crispy pancake machine was destroyed in a fire last week too!

well they and other sofa companies have always inundated the TV channels with their "buy now pay later" ads, the sofas were really only bait or enablers for the primary business of selling credit. The writing has been on the wall for that sort of business for a long time.

Totally agree here. They have been opening themselves up to this for a while.

Land Of Leather now in administration!

As for DSG Sites - It was scheduled maint for last night, but normally they keep a shell site up (and said they would in the notice)! They sent us advanced warning though but seems it is a little worse then they expected!

They are set to announce numbers on Thursday so that will be the day we find out how much time they have maybe, although their shares have done well today!

You've just described Woolworths perfectly.

It would seem hmv have concluded or are v.close to concluding the purchase of several zavvi sites/stores, none of which were amongst the 22 to close last week...

Perhaps more will be made known on Thursday when Simon Fox announces December performance.

There's an 0800 from Deloitte, phoned them (in India) and they said I'll either get the suite, get a discount on an alternative offering or my deposit back.

At least I'm not losing out, but I was really looking forward to that damned suite. Sods law I'll end up having to re-order again with another daft wait time

edit - have to wait for a letter from Deloittes to confirm which option I'm getting.

Apparently they used their in-house The Tech Guys people to do the maintenance and they just worked out how to turn it off and on again as the sites are back now.
