I honestly had no idea the original Barcelona song was all done on keyboards, pretty realistic sounds for the 80s. Not really an album I enjoyed so will probably skip it, but the new documentary sounds like it has some very interesting footage included.

The album has always been a bit of an acquired taste.

I only ever listen to the title track and the 2nd side (Golden Boy, Guide Me Home and How Can I Go On and the 'medley' track)

Little surprise to the set-list last night - You're My Best Friend

Atomsphere from this recording is immense

"No backing tapes", eh Brian ? .... and then less than 5 minutes later you show a recording/hologram of Freddie singing

It's an edit of the DVD that is currently available. Worth a watch, all new footage - well, same footage, different camera angles - but don't get excited for the Rod Stewart / MJ clips as they total about 40 seconds of the film when put together.

Besides, we have this:

107 mins down to 70 mins is a pretty hefty edit. Worth getting the DVD as well ?

Yes, the DVD is excellent. Very candid about Freddie's solo work, particularly Mr Bad Guy. It paints a picture of a man who was a bit arrogant when he went off to make it, and a bit sheepish when he came back to the band after it flopped.

It's not as good as the Days of Our Lives Queen set, but then that had much more to draw from. But it is a good watch.

Freddie Tribute concert is getting a blu-ray release according to the official Queen Facebook page. However, their artwork shows "SD Blu-Ray"
Notably, it does appear to be the FULL concert for the first time: Amazon

A DVD would have done then. And it won't be the full concert because the bloodbath that was Robert Plant doing Innuendo will not be included.

Despite that fact that the Innuendo performance was plagued with problems it was probably the most interesting part of the whole concert from a fan's point of view. A shame it's not included.

'Acoustic By Candlelight' by Badger May and Kerry Ellis is up on Spotify today. A very nice indeed version of Life Is Real features. The rest is pretty much the usual Ellis - May stuff, which you'll either love or loathe.

Well my copy of the Tribute Concert Blu-ray has arrived - looking forward to giving it a spin tonight, particularly as I've only really seen a few bits that weren't on the original DVD release.

Watching through the blu-ray now, and so far the best part for me is that one of the Freddie montages in the "Opening Acts" is set to The Show Must Go On - so after all these years of waiting, I've finally got the studio version of TSMGO mixed in DTS!! (sort of)

The isolated multitracks of The Show Must Go On are on YouTube if you really want to hear that song in a way that will stun you.
