What's the budget for this, as it looks like it would have cost a bomb to make.
Doesn't look heavy to me. Four humvees and a crowd of unknowns. The CGI isn't spectacular.

As HBO prepares for a July 13 launch of the most expensive TV production yet on the Iraq war, Generation Kill - a seven-part, $55 million miniseries about a battalion of young Marines in the lead of America's invasion force - analysts wonder about the cable channel's big gamble and whether any film or TV series can penetrate America's pop culture aversion to the war.
Almost $8million per episode! Have to say, I didn't think it was going to be that much.

less $x million for product placement

only watched ep1 but definitely sticking with it - certainly more enticing than Over There

For all those talking about product placement, Skittles were actually included in the marine's ration packs during the invasion apparently.

Interesting that the guy playing Fruity Rudy is the real life Fruity Rudy, they cast him to play himself in the show.

Might be interesting if I knew who Fruity Rudy was... never heard of him. Tried some Googling and I'm getting as many hits with Rudy Giuliani references as I am for this other guy. And I'm still no wiser as to his 'claim to fame'.

Really enjoying the show though.

Another very good episode this week, although it didn't really offer anything new, just emphasised the sheer ineptitude of the US top brass.

Highlight this week? .... definitely goes to

Captain America continues to be all kinds of awesomes. Though every time I see him I just think of the guy from 'Super Troopers'.

"Follow my Tracers!"

I think the show is excellent. But it is hard to keep up on who's who at the moment. But then I think that 'Band of Brothers' suffered the same fate.

Someone mentioned that these guys are very Gung-ho. You have to realise this are Marines. Not just regular Army. They're in the Marines BECAUSE they're Gung-Ho. They aren't unsure about killing and will easily pull a trigger on whoever they're told to. It doesn't mean they're not affected by it (As the latest episode highlights) but it's even mentioned in the very first episode (Where yes, they did actually have a Subway).

He's the guy that goes jogging in his full chemical warfare suit in episode 1 and snipes the RPG team in episode 2.

'Fruity Rudy'

The last 2 episodes of this have been great. I'm genuinely sad that this was just a mini-series.

Fruity Rudy continues to be awesome, Captain America gets funnier and Encino Man continues to miss the point.

My only problem with this series is that Captain Patterson and Encino Man look too damn similar, which confused me no end for the first few episodes.

If only we could get the US army to drop one of those 1000lb bombs onto the Big Brother House right now.

The US will be invading Iran by the time it hits our terrestrial channels.
