This is going straight to VOD on September 1st with a limited theatrical run as well. This is for the US anyway, don't know about the UK.

If the story goes the way the trailer is suggesting, then yes!

Whilst the US gets this on the 28th via select cinemas and VOD, it seems the UK is getting a cinema only release almost a month later on September 23rd.

It'll just appear on line for most people to watch then so the cinema take in this country will be paltry.

Our local cinema is opening again this Friday and I had an unlimited card but with only 1 new film (Tenet) announced for the time being I decided not to renew the card until more new films are coming out.

Eh... Was looking forward to watching that at home. Sigh. Guess they don't want my vod money for some reason.

Indeed, bit pointless really. Everyone will have already seen it at home via the usual nefarious means by the time it hits the cinemas anyway.

Its release is coming forward by a week, but I can’t believe its out now in the US with no way to legally buy/rent it anywhere else - what do they think its going to happen?

I saw this yesterday and it turned out exactly how I feared it would. Awkward, cringeworthy-at-times comedy (especially the far-too-long scene at the start where they perform at the wedding) and horribly forced performances from Weaving and Lundy-Paine as their daughters. The only saving grace was the
who was genuinely hilarious at times. Such a shame and disapointing it didn't raise above the level of my expectations.

Think an issue is that all the available cinema capacity is being used up by Tenet at the moment so there’s no capacity for anything else.

We have two local cinemas each of 3 screens but one only has 2 open as the smallest screen on 50 seats is still closed. With distancing they are only running at 1/4 to 1/3 capacity.

Both are showing Tenet full time in the 5 screens across them apart for one screen showing Unhinged in a late 9pm slot.

I guess they think demand for Tenet will have dropped in a month so by late September to allow other new films to have space.

With low expectations, I thought it was ok & probably on par with the first movie, but doesn’t come anywhere near the vastly superior sequel.

Keanu just looks all kinds of wrong in the role now. His daughter did a much better job playing the Ted role.

Wasn't bad. I know we weren't expecting high art with Bill and Ted, but I think this really would have benefitted with a better director. Everything felt quite flat the way it was shot, and didn't have the filmy quality that the earlier movies did.

Enjoyable fluff though, and I thought Lundy-Paine really had young-Keanu's mannerisms down.

29 years between sequels, is that a record?

Edit: forgot about Blade Runner.

I had to google that out of curiosity. The winner seems to be Mary Poppins with a gap of 54 years!

I was thinking it might be Return to Oz but that was a fairly lively 46 years in the making.

That's interesting. I find the first one to be much better, the second just feels like they had more money so had to find ways to spend it.
