Isn't poor sound mix pretty much Nolan's calling card as a director?

It seems to be, although I haven't had this issue with his previous films. I don't mind the booming soundtrack, it's intense and adds to the situations and was even playing backwards at some points, just wish the dialogue was easier to hear amongst it.

Based on one viewing, I felt this film needs 100% of your attention the entire time, so missing certain dialogue, particularly at the beginning, I felt like I was on the back-foot trying to catch up, whilst new information is still coming your way.

Went to see Tenet yesterday at Cineworld. I really enjoyed it, I love timey wimey films where you really have to concentrate.

I didn't have a problem with the sound and could hear everything that was being said, it was just hard to keep up with - will defintely have to watch it again on Bluray.

I've never actually seen Inception and got it for 50p in a charity shop today (3 disc bluray edition). It's going to be this weeks Saturday night film and if it's anywhere near as good as Tenet I'll be very happy.

Seen it for a second time and it makes a bit more sense. Still one big sound frustration and lots of questions.

First the frustration if anyone can help...

And I'll just ask one question...

As for the end in answer to the question above...

I think I'll just leave the other questions unanswered and enjoy the film.

Regarding everyone’s questions:

I definitely feel like being a huge fan of Primer gives you a distinct advantage when it comes to understanding Tenet.

Like the previous posts, since getting back from my second viewing, I think I've got more questions than after the first time!

Regarding the sound issues, is there a likelihood that they will rectify those by the time the 4K blu-ray comes out?

Rectify is probably not the right word. It's almost certainly intentional and therefore I doubt Nolan will agree to having it changed. There's certainly not been enough complaining about it from what I've seen online.

Just back from seeing it. Dialogue was unintelligible at places. Why would you make a film like that?

Too much of it didn't make sense to me and I'm buggered if I am going to watch it again just to get even more confused.

Plane crash was good though.

First trip back since lockdown, hope the next films are more enjoyable.

Well, there seems to be a LOT of complaints here. Perhaps Americans are better at picking up unintelligible conversation as they are more used to it?
