Black Widow - Scarlett Johansson - Marvel

Natasha Romanoff finally gets her own movie.

Teaser Trailer:

David Harbour, Florence Pugh & Rachel Weisz co-star. Directed by Cate Shortland.

Looks fun, but if that's a 'teaser', I hate to think how much they'll show in the full trailer...

Possibly - but I can't see many film releases making money either any time soon or very quickly ( with the likely social distancing protocols cinemas will have to put in place )

Black Widow (and other films) pushed back to next year. No MCU film this year then!

With the delay to the the Bond film it is surely only a matter of time before this one either gets pushed or dropped on to Disney+ as a paid extra.

I suspect the latter is most likely given all the other films & TV shows in the pipeline.

I still don’t quite understand Disney’s reticence at not releasing this, even as paid access, on Disney+ to truly gauge fan appetite for the MCU and keep the momentum going.

Mulan and Raya and the last dragon get paid access yet they’re willing to give away Soul which arguably was the bigger Pixar pull.

Probably because, like James Bond, their movies have now become "event cinema" that will make way more money than streaming it for a set fee ever would, mainly due to piracy.

It's much easier to pirate a stream in 4K with HDR (and all the other resolutions) than a fuzzy cinema release in 720p/1080p. Why bother paying for it when you can get a perfect UHD copy within hours of its release?

Yeah I understand that but these are unprecedented times when it’s going to take a big studio to test that water with a big blockbuster and see how viable it is going forward.

Yes piracy is a still a concern, but if they can find that balance that Apple Music/Spotify have. I might be ignorant now but how prevalent is music piracy compared to its hay day?

What if things don’t change for another year or longer? Someone has got to crack - we could argue HBO-Max has but seeing as the UK is somewhat excluded I’m not sure it very representative of the global film enthusiast.

I love ‘event cinema’ as much as most of us here, just as much as ‘music events’ heck even ‘wedding events’ I’d take right about now but they need to test solutions for for a world where ‘event’ anything could be restricted for some time.

I just don’t get the decision to charge for films that don’t have the consumer base ready and salivating for a new Marvel release, a movie that’s approaching 1 year from it’s original release date.

Maybe not, but the increase of kodi based devices seems to keep on and on
I’ve not used it in years. Ever since getting Apple 4k and buying films in that and previously used it since xbmc. It always felt like something “secret” but now it seems every goer person on social media is proclaiming their “chipped” fire stick or “hacked” laptop

Would be interesting to see the figures over the years

That’s a statement from someone over 40 if ever there was one!

The yoof have got no problems knowing where to pirate. A friend of mine has one of those fire stick type devices that will find crappy russian/middle eastern videocam copies of the latest films for you. He’s probably forgotten what it’s like to watch a film without periodic text announcements scrolling across the screen!

All you’ve got to do is google “black widow download free” once the film is known to be out and away you go,
