[Hulu] Stephen King's 11.22.63
Hulu has commisioned an 8 part adaptation of this JFK time travel thriller. The first part streamed today and it captured the world of the book quite well I thought, even though it's been a while since I read the book, my recollection is a bit hazy, they seem to jump straight into the time travel shenanigans. Episode 1 is 1h20mins.
The whole premise relies on the viewer buying into the 'rabbit hole' and why larger questions about how it happens aren't being asked. If you can except that then I've high hopes this will be as entertaining as the book it's based on.

I just finished the book and it's among the best things I've ever read. Looking forward to seeing the show, it should be coming to Fox UK within the next month or two.

After I watched the trailer and read the synopsis I bought the book and read through it in a few days. My first Stephen King book as well. I'm really looking forward to this show and hope it does the book justice.

Watched the 1st episode last night and it was great
My memory of the book is a little sketchy but I don't remember the or the . And I'm pretty sure the car he bought was red in the book.

The former does happen but a lot later the latter doesn’t, but he does i think lose his notes so just a form of that.
The tv series has completely removed the moving to Jodie sub-plot.

2 episodes in, I have to say I'm loving this. Good cast, decent production values & period detail, & some fun nods to King's other work.
Hope they can keep the quality up & it'll be a self contained 1-seasoner (& not dragged out to ridiculous lengths like, say, Under The Dumb).
Franco's response to which army unit he was in cracked me up.

I'm mostly liking it but episode 2 was annoying how stupid he seemed to be a lot of the time also

Yeah but if it becomes successful then they will drag it out for umpteen series no doubt and what's to stop

I don't think they can drag out the original King story as the series has been filmed already. I guess they could come up with original stories using time travel as a device but I wouldn't bank on it. Franco won't stop doing films for a continuous tv series I wouldn't have thought. It looks pretty expensive too.
Really enjoying it though.

I loved most of the book and credit it with what got me back into reading
I loved the premise. The fixed point in time and the "only 2 minutes passed" thing
I did wander how the tv show would work and it seems they have removed some of the potential for the trial and error trips back and forward I seem to remember from the book
I remember being disappointed by the books ending so not be too fussed if they tweak that

Still very good and tense. But seems to really be going away from the source material

Really enjoyed episode two and was waiting for Jake to
but it looks as if they aren't doing that.
I'm intrigued to see where this is going.

Less impressed with episode 3 as its turned into a unlikely buddy-buddy save JFK series.
I dont mind so much when better ideas are put into a book being filmed, but the addition of local hick Bill seems to be used so Franco gets to explain what they are doing the whole time.
Hoping this will go closer to the source material

I loved the end of episode 3. Oswald seemed almost sensible.

They were never going to have just Franco on screen the whole time saying nothing. Most of the book is descriptive. TV doesn't work like that.
