X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Well another trailer dropped and it still looks like a Last Stand rehash without the benefit of Wolverine.

It's time for the X-Men to end.

Mystique really looks naff, more Smurf than ever.

They just need to stop with the X-Men films, they haven't made a good one since X2 and think how many have been made since then!

I would love to see what Marvel themselves could do with the series as I couldn't be any less interested in this.

I thought First Class was pretty good.

And I thought Days of Future Past was excellent.

Logan was superb.

The rest? Yeah pretty meh after x2.

I liked First Class and DOFP.

The last one was awful and this looks worse, Sophie Turner has been excellent in Game of Thrones but I haven't seen her in anything else where she was even passable.

The Wolverine was really good IMO (the one in Japan, not the one with Liev Shreiber and mute Deadpool) and Logan was one of the best of the genre.

I have a soft spot for the X-Men films. Last Stand is my favourite.

Have to agree about Mystique looking naff. I guess JL negotiated a contract to get less time in makeup.

As to the major character getting killed off.

How do they explain that when the character is in the original X-Men movies which are set later in the timeline?

So how many years are we giving Marvel/Disney to reboot X-Men then? (With Deadpool carrying on making Meta jokes about it.)

I'm going for 5 years.

I liked First Class and DOFP as well, Logan was great (but not really xmen film) but the Apocalypse one was terrible and this one looks worse

I can see Disney rebooting the series for the next film

LOGAN
Wolverine
X2
DOFP
X3
Origins Wolverine
First Class
Apocalypse

Biggest problem was JLAW too famous + can't act could have had the girl from First Class who played the young raven, in this.of pay Rebecca Romijn whatever she wanted to play the role again

Also the time line messing about does not help, the newer ones should have been set in one era not spread across the decades

Its getting bad reviews (which is not surprising) even with the reshoots

First for a while that I won't be seeing at the cinema.

Last I'm guessing with any of the current cast.

They'll rest it for a few years and then reboot for the MCU.

Absolutely and apart from Fassbender and McAvoy good riddance to them.

When they come back; sooner or later will depend on how quick they could get a decent story and method for bringing them into the MCU (and Money)

Without CAP, IM, Thor etc, the MCU is in a weaker state. X-Men could prop that up. Captain Marvel, Spider Man, Doctor Strange and Black Panther are not nearly as popular and are in the unenviable position of having to keep the momentum going as compared to the originals which only had to start it.

Fantastic 4 has had 3 recent movies and they have all been stinkers,

New Mutants seems to be stuck too, cast are ageing out already if more reshoots are to be done to fix it. Would not be surprised if its shelved.

Best bet is to use the multiverse that Spiderman 2 refers to and bring in some alternate IM and Cap etc, Timothy Olyphant would be my choice for Iron Man

I'm sure MCU will bring x-men at some point, no doubt a after credits scene to tease then a film in 3 to 4 years

This is getting a lashing on Rotten Tomatoes. Think my mate said it was 15% this morning. It didn't look great from the trailer tbh.

Spider-Man not nearly as popular? Also Black Panther and Captain Marvel were considerably bigger hits than First Avenger and Thor. They are more than popular enough and there will also be a number of other established characters in there. However, I agree that the issue is keeping the momentum going especially as they really need to start building up to another big antagonist again. I think the injection of the X-Men and maybe the Fantastic Four in a couple of years time will give it the legs to carry on.

It seems to be getting an unfair kicking. All reviews I've read seemed to say that whilst not great it is considerably better than Apocalypse, The Last Stand, Wolverine Origins. Yet all of those films have much better Rotten Tomatoes ratings than this. It just seems to be people on the internet reveling in destroying something for fun. First Game of Thrones and now this. I miss the times when entertainment news sources just simply didn't like things, wrote their review and moved on without feeling the need to unleash countless scathing articles about why they hate it and why you're wrong to like it.
