It's begun shooting! The easiest way to get all the news on the cast and current situation is to see the video above. Suffice to say, all the actors from the previous films are returning (including Carrie Fisher, using previously shot footage) and Billy Dee Williams is back as Lando!
On another note, if you now hate Star Wars that's nice. We get it. No need to keep telling us here. If you really feel the need to keep venting it then stick to The Last Jedi thread, please: https://forums.thedigitalfix.com/for...d.php?t=636716

Any thoughts on the Disney/Fox deal now going thru.
Could we finally get an Original Trilogy Non Specialized version on BluRay it would make a nice touch to get this out in time for Ep. 9
Although the fanboys will be rejoicing at such thoughts, including the fact that Disney will now have access to X-Men and Fantastic Four, the real big problem is that they will now control about 40% of the movie industry and that's not a good thing.
Oh and JJ posted this yesterday, the first day of shooting on Episode 9.
Bittersweet starting this next chapter without Carrie, but thanks to an extraordinary cast and crew, we are ready to go. Grateful for @rianjohnson and special thanks to George Lucas for creating this incredible world and beginning a story of which we are lucky to be a part. #IXpic.twitter.com/FOfnGwVut5
The release of the Original Trilogy theatrical versions is really confusing mess. You'd think that the Disney/Fox merger would open the door for it, but isn't it still down to George Lucas? I thought he/his ex-wife still have control over it.

Ive seen some speculation that the sale of SW to Disney included a clause that the original versions not be released. Lucas has been pretty adamant that the SEs were his final version and I dont think Disney have released the OT since buying Lucasfilm.
Ill see it but to say the last one kicked the excitement out of me is an underestimation. Star Wars use to feel special, Disney have certainly put paid to that.
I just cant see how JJ can write and direct himself out of the plot cul de sacs from the last one. Heres hoping!

I didn't like you very much when I met you and now I like you even less.
Yeh I can see why, people get tired of them and they stop being special. This looks promising though although can't see how they're wrapping it upin one move
Had to check, Rhian johnson has nothing to do with this, which is good.
Lets hope this is one is good
Hope he never gets near SW again. totally the wrong person to direct a SW movie; now if he had done Star Trek we might have got something interesting.
But JJ needs a good slap for walking away in the middle of it - if you are making a new trilogy you stick around for the lot with one person directing. its not like he directed anything between TFA and ROS
ST needs a reboot anyway let this guy at it more cerebral less OTT action that the kelvin movies became.
