I think about three weeks after he'd arrived, you'd won a match I think, you weren't that far off the top in points terms and since you'd just appointed the worlds greatest manager, it was presumed that the victory would be followed by others.
Transfer fees do go out of proportion in a tournament, however it isn't the world cup, so most of the players will be knowns, it's not like in Euro 96 anymore. Besides if you buy before the tournament it won't be an issue.
If you don't think they've written off the season, why didn't they buy anyone?

it's a common observation that the new tv deal is going to hike transfer fees up anyway.

They are chucking a lot of money around. I fully expect Yaya to be heading there at the end of the season.
A lot of big managers there too. Wonder how much they'll pay for Benteke...?

I was thinking this the other day when some journo was talking about China's plans on Five Live. Maybe someone should get together some showreels of most of our players and send them on..... perhaps they should only feature performances from their former clubs though....

Having seen the transformation of Vardy, I think Benteke needs to be given time, a decent pre-season with Klopp this summer. Lots of potential to unlock.
