The Crown (S4) - I've only a passing interest in the subject matter, but these are so well crafted as to be compelling. Interesting (fictional) scripts and beautiful cinematography (love all the symmetry). Thankfully, the series as a whole isn't too Di-centric, although I did find Gillian Anderson's Thatcher a little too close to caricature. Continues to be essential viewing, 8/10

Roadkill (2020) - so much potential but turned out barely "OK", although it does improve a bit in eps3-4. There's something wrong with the tone, the whole thing is rushed and largely unbeliveable, and it's way too similar to another (much better) show. It needed Netflix, a bigger budget, and 10 hours. Sorry Hugh, avoid. 4/10

Gentleman Jack (2019) - fab frivolous fun, cheeky, vivacious and even exhilerating. Ignore the simplistic storyline, push through the overly-repetitive middle section, and enjoy the scenery, the script and the performances (plenty familiar faces). Interesting too, that despite being based on real diaries, our heroine is also portrayed as flawed. I particularly enjoyed the way they
Looking forward to S2 some time. Recommended, 8/10

Does she stroke out at the end?

Whereas I have fonud The Crown S4 feels more like a royal soap opera than previous seasons because of the amount of time spent on the charles/di story. However it is still pulling out the corker one of story eps so still good

I've just stumbled across Blown Away on Netflix. It should appeal to fans of Bake Off/Pottery Throwdown/that one with the flowers, following as it does the usual challenge & elimination format. Sadly, it's not about small explosive devices, but glass blowing. Fun though... I've watched a couple and I'm hooked, and wishing the episodes were longer. They seem to be in a hurry to get to the end.

Watched White Tiger last night, one of Netflix year of film movies.

It's set in India and mostly in English but with some subtitled Hindi. It tells the tale of a poor man who gets a job for a rich family and the messed up way that servitude is bred into the lower class in India. Really enjoyed this but I have never felt so uncomfortable watching a film and realising how much I have and how some folks get by with literally nothing.

"Brutal Robot Firefight" should have been on the poster.
As with every other “exclusive” film I seem to watch on Netflix, this seemed to offer much but ultimately be instantly forgettable

Not a bad film. Just nothing not seen before

I was hoping it was going to pull a “split” and you would see the name skynet at end of hear a familiar Austrian voice.

Enjoyed watching 'Back' series 1 last night. Series 2 tonight. Very funny in certain bits but definitely not as funny as Peep Show.

Streaming link: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/back

Hmmm, yeah. Watched this last night in the mood for a Saturday action film. It was ok, but ultimately unfulfilling.

I'd highly recommend the past Friday's new Netflix film, The White Tiger.

It's from the director of 99 Homes, which came out a few years back. It's like a mix of Parasite, Trainspotting, The Wolf of Wall Street, although not as good as any of those but I'd argue close to the top tier of Netflix originals.

Yep I think that was announced in the press a couple of weeks ago, I got the same email today too. I was all set to cancel I have hardly watched anything. Only thing I watched all the way through was Ted Lasso which I absolutely loved.

We've just started The Morning Show, which is superb, a lot better than I expected.

I am 6 episodes into morning show. Happier now that I can watch apple on my PS4 and not on the awful pc laptop interface.

But I have watched that plus the Chris/cap America show.

And I loved trying? About a couple wanting a baby. That was lovely. I think I face nothing else to watch do adding extra 3 months makes no odds to me. Longer to finish off morning show i suppose!

We’ve watched, and mainly enjoyed, a lot on Apple TV - Long Way Up, Servant, Morning Show, For All Mankind, Greyhound, Defending Jacob, The Banker, Beastie Boys Story etc - would definitely have paid for renewal

Me 3. I’ve just finished the first season and liked it much more than I thought I would! I’m not really a football fan so that put me off at first. I realised though that doesn’t matter at all! It’s the characters and his constant optimism that’s infectious! Just the kind of antidote we need at the moment!

This may sound whiney and a first world problem (and it is both) but as they don't have a Android app I can never be asked to change over to the Firestick to check what is on there.

Honestly if they stuff together and got a Android app I would probably watch more and even probably buy movies on iTunes.

Also just saw this video that details the full list of shows and movies coming to D+/Star and have to say this has really got me excited a massive amount of 80s and 90s movies.

I wined something similar. Watching apple stuff on my pc laptop was a faff. You couldn’t really search and I never found “my watch list”, I had to book mark shows I was watching to come back to them

Now it’s in my PS4 it’s much better (though still a faff over everything else being on my tv as an app)
