I'm betting the Premier League will dock them enough points to make sure they can't play in Europe next season.

Exactly.
Docking them points this season would be futile - they're not going to win the title and can't play in Europe anyway. Far fairer and more meaningful for them to start on negative points for 20/21. Pretty sure the PL can't do anything until after any appeal anyway so a point deduction this season looks unlikely.
Mind you, according to Jamie Redknapp (talking after our game this evening) - City have done nothing different to any other club selling the naming rights for their ground or

Something's got to give here - UEFA seem convinced that City have cheated the system but City seem equally confident that they have evidence to prove otherwise. Of course, it could all be bravado, but it'll be interesting to see how it plays out from here.
From a fan's perspective, it's disappointing but if the owners have gamed the system then we'll have to accept whatever punishment comes our way. RE Jamie Redknapp's comment - I didn't see it, but I assume that he is saying that in financial terms, the Etihad deal isn't that much different to any other team. The difference is where the cash has come from.
Anyway, after years in the second division, a year in the third and plenty of seasons struggling against relegation from the First Divisions & Premier League, a couple of seasons out of the Champions League and a year where we can't win the title will be a mere bump in the road. The owners might not feel that way of course …..

UEFA seem adamant they have proof that once again City have broken FFP rules and, not only that, lied to UEFA about it. There aren't many teams who have claimed to have got an Ł80M sponsorship which was actually only worth Ł8M - which is effectively what City did. City have never denied this happened - they just complain about how UEFA found out it.
The astonishing thing is how many pundits are 'standing by' City and think it will set a bad precedent if they they don't win their appeal and how it would be bad for the future of the game. In other words condoning cheating
Now there are arguments to be had about the pros/cons of FFP. But the simple fact is ... City agreed to abide by FFP rules and have now been caught trying to cheat their way round them.
And that's before HMRC start looking into their alleged salary payment schemes

Sounds like Darren Gough and Adrian Durham have just received lifetime annual all inclusive holidays to Abu Dhabi judging by the amount of deflection ******** they are spreading on City's behalf.
Someone should point out to these, and other idiots are in the media that (a) whether FFP is good/bad is totally irrelevant to why City have been charged and (b) if it is just a big self protection thing for the G14 then, er, the G14 don't exist anymore and surely they would have made sure none of the 14 could be punished yet AC Milan were.

Most evenings on way home from work I have these two on and the amount of crap that comes out of Durhams mouth is unreal. Its as if he says stuff jut to be controversial for the sake of it and reaction.

The emails that have been leaked appear to be damning. So if, as City claim, they’re taken out of context why haven’t they just released the exchange to provide that context and exonerate themselves.
Empty, aggressive denials do them no favours at all, as do the assertions they’d rather pay the best lawyers in the world Ł30m and drag uefa through every court going.

Sad to hear that Michael Robinson has died, aged 61. I remember when Malcolm Allison signed him for big money (750K?) for us in the 1970s. A decent forward. RIP Mike.

The Cas ruling is great news for the club, players and fans.
It seems that the club is guilty of being obstructive towards UEFA, possibly on the basis that they were not prepared to engage in discussions over hacked e-mails.
Cas have said that there is no evidence of any attempt to conceal where the funds have come from, which was the main thrust of UEFA's gripe. It will be interesting to read the full judgment when it is made available.

Good news for City - getting away with cheating again ( sounds like you got off on a technicality ) - bad news for football, FFP and the Premier League.
Mind you ... all that money and all that cheating, and you still finish so far behind

Full statement here:
https://www.tas-cas.org/fileadmin/us...5_Decision.pdf
Basically, CAS conceded that Man City fiddled the books and obstructed UEFA's investigation, but didn't think that was enough to ban them, and they reduced the fine as well.
Amazing where money can get you.
