Sport in the time of Coronavirus
I know there is a football thread but thought a general thread might be useful.
Much as I like watching all sorts of sports, it's amazing to me that so many are thinking of starting up again and, if this tennis example is anything to go by, any that do start up won't last long.
I channel hopped on to Djokovic's tournament and it was mind bogglingly stupid. Unsurprisingly this is the outcome.

Sounds like players partying in a nightclub rather than standing on the opposite side of the net on an outdoor court might be a bigger issue.

You can hear the players fart on the football.
Not right.

A number of players pulling out of the next PGA tour event also, as both Koepka and GMac’s caddies have tested positive as well as Cameron Champ and Nick Watney.
Words fail me re Djokovic.

No excuses for Djokovic and in any normal world he would get at least a ban but no chance of that given his status.
The golf stuff is evidence that no matter how much money you throw at a problem and no matter how stringent your policies this virus will hit you.
It will be the same for every sport, espcially in the US, and I just can't see how this won't start affecting the footoball over here.

My observation on the sport is that they aren't socially distancing even when they could easily do so.
Players still hugging each other, handshakes after the match, golf caddies putting arm around other players etc.
Why?

They've got the privilege of being able to be tested regularly, which most of us don't. They should be in one of the safest jobs around at the moment when it comes to Covid 19 risk, not really suprised they're comfortable being close to other players.

All sounds a bit dodgy though, taken over by a fit and proper owner a few weeks ago and a few weeks later gone bankrupt? Heard a reporter taking about it on the radio, something didn't sound right

No Ryder cup, which feels like the right call. Wouldn’t be the same without the morons shouting out mashed potato

Anyone watching athletics on BBC? Watched the women’s 400m hurdles, each athlete running in a different stadium (possible even in different countries and at different times) so showing on split screens. Much weirdness.

So ... fans to be allowed back in stadiums by October ?
That can't be full capacity, surely ?

Or, as they call it at my team, a normal attendance.

Well no fans are coming back.
But you can watch the Premier League games deemed not worth sticking on SKY for £15 a pop.
