They've gone for the New 52 Harley from the recent comics, which doesn't come as any surprise at all. I guess I was quietly hoping for something resembling the classic character.

Shame DC Can't get their licencing together and let The Arrow/Flash/Spin Off Universe use the various characters they have now stuck in this film, If the TV Shows are going to go off and do their own thing then let them use whatever DC have in the vaults of characters. But nope not going to happen.

Harley reminds me of the Arkham Games Universe version. which translates better to live action IMO. Deadshot not having a cybernetic eye piece is kinda sucky though.

I wish, i would have settled for that. She is perfect for the role and the hair/makeup is great. but her costume is the laziest crap thrown together from the local dumpster, they should have just gone with the Arkham city version, they nailed the update in that, colour me dissapointed

DC's Suicide Squad

Who is the dude on the far left? I can identify all the other characters (left to right: Captain Boomerang, Enchantress, Katana, Rick Flagg, Harley, Deadshot, Killer Croc, El Diablo).

EDIT: Apparently, he's a character called Slipknot. Never actually heard of him.

The Arrow version of Deadshot is terrible though, and Floyd doesn't have a cybernetic eye piece in the recent comics. His scope is part of his mask. I'm actually glad they've gone down that route, as it prevents any confusion with Deathstroke (who is also due to appear in this film).

EDIT: Ayer has also posted a pic of Deadshot with his mask on.

Yeah, the hair and make up is pretty much the Arkham City look (I'm glad she still has blonde hair, unlike the recent comics), but the costume is like a Primark version of the roller derby look from the New 52.

I think Ayer confirmed that she will wear many different costumes in the film, so we shall see....

Harley looks like terrible like bad and cheap cosplay. Actually replaying Akrham city and Harley in that looks better.

They all look like extras from a Duran Duran video.

No doubt it could turn out well, im just getting a "cheap" vibe from this and my hopes have been dashed, which could be a good thing as having high hopes for a film is usually a recipe for disapointment.

For me they're throwing too many characters into this with apparently little or no back story, which I think means they're asking too much of the audience... I quite like the visual look of the characters above, but felt the Joker really missed the mark. The batman cameo that's been more or less confirmed ties it to BvS but it seems a little forced. Maybe even a bit of an after thought.

Having said that I'm more inclined to go to my local multiplex to catch this than I am BvS as I really liked Fury and feel the director has potential, while I thought Man of Steel was, for the most part tripe, and I have little faith that the director will be able to redeem himself.

I'm not so sure, I recently watched the Assault on Arkham animated.

Out of the Suicide Squad in that...I knew Harley, Captain Boomerang and possibly Killer Frost (or whatever the frost chick was) (and obviously Jokey, Batman, Jim Gordon, Poison Ivy, Riddler etc from the wider Batman mythos)

I didn't know any of the others, but I was able to enjoy the film. In that they just had a quick 60 second intro to each character and that worked fine.

Not every character needs a fleshed out back story. Sometimes, they're bad guys is enough

The films obviously based on the Dirty Dozen. I don't remember much back story for all the characters in that. A good script should be able to introduce the characters with actions rather than words.

Of course this is a DC comic book movie. So who knows.

There's new (blurry) set photos showing the Joker without those dreadful facial tattoos. It's likely that the scene being filmed is a flashback, as the Joker is supposed to be incarcerated for the film, but I remain hopeful that the tattoos were just for the publicity shot.
