Think the issue in this one, was after all of the tough draws you've had, you finally had a team you'd be able to beat quite easily.

You had the chances initially, but then the whole psychology of the game changed. The team panicked instead of staying patient.

Definitely, almost like we turned up expecting to win. Our tempo dropped massively after the first ten minutes where we could (and arguably should) have been 1-0 up. I never thought it'd be as easy of a ride as some given Monaco's performance in the group stages, but the fact they almost doubled their goals tally for this year's tournament in one game smarts the most.

Well that was ****. I like Ozil, but I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that he just doesn't suit us. Our performances have dropped off considerably since he came back from injury - even though we've got away with it a few times. Not that it was his fault Mertesacker went AWOL & The Ox went from hero to villain in 2 minutes!

I asked this initially as Cazorla's stats suddenly dropped through the floor for me in fantasy premier league, which coincided with Ozil coming back.

That's why I was asking if his role had changed. I presume he's become more defensive as Ozil is further forward.

Mertesacker suddenly transformed into Luiz.

Bit quiet in here recently! Massive win tonight, if not just to end the run of defeats at their place. Coquelin was superb, as were Kos and Per dealing with (almost) everything thrown at them. Really well-taken goal from Welbeck too.

Bradford/Reading in the Semi. Let's hope it's easier than Wigan last year!

Difficult to be sure as I was watching on my phone at work, but it looked like we could have won by more. Hopefully this will help get rid of our obvious mental block we seem to have when it comes to Utd. Pleased for Welbeck, he works so hard for little reward.

Had a couple of great chances, with fantastic saves from De Gea, but second half was incredibly scrappy.

Really hope Ozil gets a bit of confidence back soon, couple of times last night he had a chance to run with the ball and take a shot but he always seemed to be looking for the pass.

Not too shabby I don't expect us to overturn the 3-1 deficit on Tuesday, but a decent performance could make it exciting.

So, it's Reading in the Semi Final. Let's try and avoid a 7-5 this time.

If Arsenal could nick an early goal it could get very interesting.

As Arseblog mentions in this week's podcast, there are a lot of variables that could turn the game in our favour (early penalty/red card), but the main thing that worries me is how efficiently Monaco tore us apart on the counter at the Emirates and that, tonight, we're going to have to go with the same attacking intent.

On the flip side, we missed a lot of chances at home and the goals came from individual mistakes. So, tighten up at the back and be more clinical and we could do it.

Overall though, I'm expecting a glorious failure a la Munich 3-3 from 2012/13 season.

Ramsey and Walcott really should have started that game IMO.

Should have put a bet on! Agree that Ramsey should have started, but not Walcott. He doesn't offer anywhere near enough overall, especially not compared to Welbeck.

Third goal at home was the killer, as we all kind of expected it would be.

I might be being a bit thick here, but how come Arsenal are out? The aggregate was 3-3, with Arsenal scoring 2 away goals? Doesn't it work that way anymore?

Glorious failure again. Lost it at home obviously, The Ox giving away the third in the final minute did for us. A good try tonight though & maybe with a bit of luck we could have created history.
