He'd probably do a job in defence to be fair.

Up to a mind warping goal difference of zero now. Heart warming stuff.

Well it would be awesome to play against a team like that every week, they were shocking. Great game from Eriksen and Chadli looked decent enough in the centre. Only 5 points behind Arsenal but can't see them dropping many points for the rest of the season. I'd rather finish 7th and do without Europa League next year...give a proper tilt at the league campaign.

.... and still does everything possible to avoid being ANYWHERE near a tackle.

yes, he had a good night with assists and a goal, but with our defensive and midfield frailties, against anyone other than tonights utterly woeful opposition, every man must do his bit, to win the ball back and close down the opposition.

Nice to see Kane get one, he was enthusiastic, a bit predictable but doubtless his confidence will be high after tonights 'perfect' opposition.

There you have it. Something that isn't his fault and we shouldn't have. I'm more than prepared to give Eriksen the leeway if he's going to be the most dangerous player on the pitch. The frailties are up to the manager and players concerned to sort out.

Yes and no.

Just as we can all pick out (through watching 20 minutes of a game) who is the weakest link, or having a stinker on the day, other teams will target a player who is easy to muscle off the ball, or one whos on a yellow etc, if a player is as weak as Eriksen is, in that aspect of a game, it will likely bring instant pressure upon us.

We were lucky to be playing the bottom of the table side, as several times yesterday, we lost possession high up the pitch and seemed to have nobody filling the middle of the park.

We didnt really need to be inviting unnecessary pressure on Kaboul and Chiriches, neither of whom are particularly pacy and Chiriches had a bit of a poor game, coming back from his injury layoff.

Your focus on blaming our better players for not being superb every game (Bale last year, Eriksen and Walker this year) is bizarre. Eriksen is a lightweight attacking midfielder, very good at what he does but with no defensive qualities. I’d much rather have him than the allrounders like Chadli/Holtby/Capoue we seem to have filled our midfield with.

Wouldn’t have sacked AVB, wouldn’t have appointed Sherwood but the idea he’s done particularly badly isn’t true. I can see us winning most of our remaining games which will give us a record points total again. He’s just shown his inexperience at times and is clearly still learning which is why you suspect he’s talked himself into the job rather than earnt it.

I can see Bentaleb becoming a decent though not first rate player. I’ve seen nothing from Kane to suggest he will have an EPL career.

Not particularly convinced that van Gaal is our solution but sounds like it’s almost a done deal. I’d much rather a young manager with something to prove, if not going to be Sherwood, then Pochettino

Agree on Pochettino - why not? VDG didn't set Bayern alight, quite the opposite. What makes anyone think he'll take us up a couple of notches?

Would love to give Pochettino a shot at it.

Not sure what else Van Gaal has to prove? He has won titles wherever he has gone and generally played a pleasing to the eye style of football....ok he has had some dubious exits but who hasn't - after this season, I just want to get back to enjoy watching Spurs play and possibly compete at the top end of the table.

Was nice to see TIM not clutter the park with defensive MF last night, yes Sunderland were dross but we actually stringed some decent passes together for a change. Andros looked like he was chomping at the bit when he came on, Ade was tireless as ever - The opening goal probably summed up outer season though. Total confusion between 3 players who wouldn't struggle to get into the starting 11 of the majority of other premier league teams. I wonder what contract VG will get if he signs..

Just read an interesting stat, Erik Lamela has more assists and same amount of goals as Lennon this season...

Lennon puts a shift in but it's the perennial problem of no end product, certainly worth keeping but not sure of his first team status.

Going on recent practice we will appoint a Frenchman who once shined Brian Clough's shoes then immediately sack him and replace with Darren Caskey

Bale turned up in about 60 % of the games he played in his last 2 seasons with us.

Walker is average at best and makes some real howlers, as did BAE for 2 or 3 seasons before he went out on loan.

First 20 mins performance away to WBA suggests they don't share your view re winning most of the remaining games.

Far too many poor/lazy/lightweight players in this team.

Alright then, it was probably closer to 55 %.

As our season is effectively over (just need to decide whether to qualify for Europa or slide out of contention for that as well) it must be time to start listings positions we need new/better players for and those players that need to be moved on.
