I caved and bought it, as Smyths were doing it for £38. I think I've reached chapter 9 so far, and its a typical Uncharted/Last of Us type of game. Most, if not all, of the praise I've seen is for the graphics and the story. Quite rightly too, as both are very good. The gameplay, however, falls behind as usual.
The character movement is pretty clunky (yet I rarely make a mistake when climbing....which makes me think that the game is doing more of the work than me). They need to reduce the number of instances where something breaks off a mountain/building also. It's no longer a surprise when you lose count of how many times it happens in the first hour.
Shooting is all over the place (aim assist doesn't help much). Unarmed/close quarters combat is terrible (in particular regarding counters and generally defending yourself, which isn't helped by the camera angles). Tagging enemies is bizarre, as you have to come out of hiding to do it (9 times out of 10, they spot you).
After saying all of the that, I'm still enjoying it. I think that's partly because I know its pretty short (you wouldn't want to be playing a 50-100 hour open world game with these combat mechanics). If it was an animated film, it would be a 9 (pushing a 10). As a game, its somewhere around a 7.5.

I personally love the gameplay. Uncharted and the Last Of Us for me were the few games to get it right. I actually find a lot of other games quite clunky.

I noticed a nice effect whilst exploring a cave last night. Nate had his flashlight out and whenever I pointed it at his brother, he would squint or turn his head away as though the light was too strong. Such a neat little effect to add in.

Well I was really enjoying this until my PS4 got into a safe mode loop. Managed to get it back by resetting the settings but wiped all my save data. Was half way through Rachet and Clank too
Currently doing a speedrun type thing to get back to the place I was.

Doesn't the PS4 have cloud storage? Or is that just a PSN+ thing?

finished it last night, thought it was great. They pack so much detail into their games & a level of production that is so far ahead of anything else.
can't wait to see what they next

Really enjoying this (although had not had much time to play it) Anyone who does not like the uncharted shooting and wall climbing then I can't recommend it as its like the old games but slight improvement. But never had much of a problem with it in the past. Uncharted 2 was great but the end boss and the blue guys were **** and was like a bit of **** on top of the cake.
What really makes the game is the personality of the characters and all of ND's personal touches (same with last of us) Also if I hear one more jumped up, over privileged games reviewer saying they don't want last of us 2 because the first game story was "done" I'm going to hunt them down Are they thick or can't they understand they don't have to do another story with Joel and Ellie? There is another stories and characters........ edit needed to rant as they sound so simple

I'm loving the multiplayer so much, I'm struggling to tear myself away to get back to the campaign. Shame that you can't see your online characters' level.

Upto level 17 now and really enjoying it. So many lovely little touches in the game that are making it fun. Although I have to say I do feel at times like some of the buildings were used in Last of Us.

Finished it! Bit of a dodgy final boss fight but certainly a brilliant ending to possibly my fave set of games.

Who needs a Neo when a game can look this good?

I'm taking this slowly with the game so I'm only in the Italian auction... But the quality of the story telling is so far ahead of other games it's silly.
The Tomb Raider devs must all be crying in a dark room somewhere.

For me, Rise of the Tomb Raider is a significantly better game.

The uncharted story is better, but 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' was brilliant in terms of the game.
