Not good enough, never will be. Like Dempsey, not an AVB style player and will be moved along in January at the latest. If Bale leaves I would expect another creative midfielder to be signed and I'd guess Chadli will be ahead of Sig even if Bale does stay.

Huddlestone gone to Hull for £5m - great striker of the ball but far too ponderous and not mobile enough. Wish him well!

Talk of us after Lamela, would be great if we could get these players before they make a name for themselves in Europe. I guess that's the idea with Halilovic.

Huddlestone gone, Parker and Livermore on their way out, AVB is certainly shaking things up this window, good luck to him, been needing this for a while now.

Re: The Tottenham Hotspur Thread 2012/2013

Reasonable business for Hudd, £5.25m? Think Livermore needs to be sold though, don't see him having a future at Spurs but maybe the loan puts him in the shop window or maybe Hull even have an option to buy.

Parker going seems probable but maybe we need him as a squad player to cover injuries?

If Capoue gets confirmed then we will have 4 solid central midfielders plus Tom Carroll who looks to have a bit of talent. Getting him out on loan to a decent PL team would be the best in all honesty to give him sustained top level game time though.

At this rate we'll need to keep him to make up the 'homegrown' numbers!

Great stuff - on paper anyway this squad is really shaping up nicely. AVB has confirmed that Bale won't play against Palace on Sunday so does anyone want to suggest a team?

Lloris
Rose - Kaboul - Dawson - Walker
Sandro - Paulinho
Lennon - Dembele - Chadli
Soldado

We are lacking depth at CB but if we are just going to play with 1 up top then perhaps our current set of strikers will suffice? Not sure if Adebayor will kick up a stink at not playing though.

I'd imagine there is still a few players to come and go between now and the end of the window - quite frankly I would take Coentrao and £70m now for Bale just to get on with it.

What deadwood is still left in the squad? Just Gomes?

Even without Bale those teams look very impressive.

Can't wait to see Sandro and Paulinho playing together.

Gareth Bale has been ruled out of action for two weeks, Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has said.

Should Bale return in two weeks' time, he will be available for Spurs' away game against Arsenal at the Emirates on 1 September, one day before the transfer window shuts.

So what are our hopes for this season then, Quite a few Pundits are tipping us to win the Europa League which I'd be more than happy with, As long as its not another season of us being in 4th place for 9/10ths of the season then dropping down into 5th in the final weeks again I could live with that (as long as we get 4th that is)

Still like to see us bring in another Striker

Bias aside, I can't wait to see Paulinho, I've been listening to Tim Vickery rave and rave and rave about him on the WFPI for months on end now, lets see what this guy is all about!

This seems an awful lot like last season, with the players waiting for a bit of magic from Bale to win the game, Well that isn't going to happen this season so someone else better step up

Dawson looked a bit Rabbit in the headlights in the tunnel and his passing has been mostly poor.

Between Lennon and Walker, they haven't managed a decent cross between them.

Defoe on for Chadli for second half please, need someone to be a bit more direct rather than constantly down the Right wing and then stopping, so Palace can set themselves.

Dembele looks composed enough, maybe push him up a bit more ?

Chadli the weak link so far. No surprises that it is scrappy and dull. Should nick it. Palace are going to be gone by Christmas.

Terrible crossing and lack of movement so far. Dont really like this formation but its early days. If we dont get a goal first mins of second half then it has to be Lennon off and Defoe on. Go 442 and push Sig out left and Chadli right. Need move movement up front and get to the line and look up for a man to cross to rather than just firing it in.

Lennon had Chadli unmarked on the penalty spot and still managed to fire it in at Soldado who had no chance.
