4 months of £75, and now £25 this month. But also tie this in with my kids who've won nowt and probably have £5k between them. I've got £40k
Mother in law won a £500 I think, or some suitably decent prize.
Also remember it is tax free. So if you've got more than £1000 of interest, or less if you earn more, they're not a bad investment.
They're not gonna make you rich, but I can't really think of anything much better.
OK some Sharia account or something might net you an extra £12.40 over the next year, but it's a little boring and you aren't gonna win big.
It's also the government isn't it, the money is 100% safe. Not safe in that you're covered up to so much when your bank goes bust, just safe. Nobody has ever had to file a claim to get their money back when a bank goes bust, I can't imagine you get a cheque the next day (or the government even knows how to do it).

3 x £25 for me. So I've made so far £400 after having it invested from the end of Jan, so six months they've had my cash and I'm on an effective 1% interest rate already as I started with £40k.
Stuck £6k in the wife's name, she got nothing in her first draw. So I guess it'll begin to even out in some way. Kids still have nothing.

And that assumes your 'lucky' streak continues on for the next 6 months.
Is a 1% return on £40k a good amount these days ?
Stupid questions ... if you invest in Premium Bonds how much notice do you have to give to get your money back ? And when you win can you chose for it to be added to your 'pot' ?

Yes you can have wins added to your pot (assuming under £50k)
Think it’s a month or do notice to withdraw but check in the website.
1% Seems good to me, especially if you are a higher rate tax payer so only £500 tax free interest which by Santander 123 used up (before rate crashed)
But I also have lots of riskier share investments and ratesetter isa (pays 3/4% usually) so it all offsets.

Depends how risky you want to be, if I'd have had shares I'd have lost 20% of my investment I think. So 1% is pretty good for the level of risk, ie. none.
Can't really see I'd do massively better unless I locked it away for five years or took some form of risk where the capital could reduce.
