I have approx 1500 pounds that i have been given towards a wedding but won't need it till about March next year. Would premium bond be a good place to keep it or is that not long enough?
Also can ijust turn up at the po and putchase or do i need to do something else?

well 1500 in say an isa over a year would make you 3%, maybe 4% if you fix = so around £60 interest max.
prem bonds could make you more or nothing. so only downside is loss of £60.
I buy mine online with a debit card. seems the easiest way to buy.

AFAIK you'd be hard-pressed to get those rates in return for fixing for less than a year. I think most fixed ISAs tend to be more than a year and to get 4% you'd be looking at three years at the very least

OK something strange is going on
I thought at first they were the three from last month so I accepted I'd won nothing this month, but then I looked closer
I don't think I've ever won more than one lot (never-mind three lots) twice in a row

I started around 2006 with about £9,000. Since then I've usually added to the pot with some spare cash rather than from a regular plan. Right now I have around £16,000 - but £800 of that was added at the end of last month, so won't be available until the July draw (then I'm going for the million ).
I've been planning to withdraw a few thousand to fill up my ISA cash allowance after a car seduced me into buying it, meaning I need to move a couple of things around - but the way the bonds have been performing the last eight months or so, those few thousand are probably better where they are for now.

Not had any premium bonds for ages, but thinking of putting some cash in. So would be greatful if someone can tell me when would be the best time to purchase the bonds in the month to qualify for the draw? Would it be the last day of the month so that it's in for the 1st and then goes into the draw the 1st after that?
Also, what method to purchase online? Is it debit card only? I'm never keen on using a debit card online.

Yes, last day of the month to minimize the time the money is dead. Although not so critical these days with interest rates being so low. Probably best to go for the last working day to be sure.
You can buy in a post office with a cheque if you don't want to use a debit card online.

I don't have a cheque book. Well I did, but I put it on the fire. Some silly thing about having a better credit rating if you have a cheque book
Hate cheques because it's always money "out-there" which you have to remember about.
Thanks for the info. I'll go with last working day to make sure

You may be able to use a debit card to buy in the PO but check beforehand. Pop in & ask for an application form & about methods of payment.

Just the one this month - seems adding another £800 to the pot somehow subtracts £50 from your winnings. I got greedy
Still can't believe I've only had one blank in the last nine months (possibly longer, I haven't checked further back than November). Before the £800 last month, I can't remember adding much if any before this run of form - and before that I wasn't doing too well in terms of winnings. Change of luck clearly Long may it continue
