That convenient solution to a deeply difficult issue has been removed after Chelsea successfully requested that the courts delay the trial until after the end of the season.

Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay wrote to District Judge Howard Riddle asking for the delay because it would be inconvenient for the club to release players from training to give evidence.
Exactly, they requested it. No conspiracy at all. I'm still puzzled by Brunt claiming that Terry has somehow received preferential treatment despite being prosecuted and having the England captaincy taken away.

You said it was a conspiracy

I'll leave Adam to argue his claims, not going there

The point is, anyone in a similar position, could have put in a request to do the same. There is no preferential treatment. Chelsea didn't delay it, the court did.

Well, QPR were certainly unhappy with the outcome so there is some suggestion of unfairness

As I say ... we'll see if he gets preferential treatment when, or more likely , if he gets a £40k fine and a 8 game ban. AFAIK, as it currently stands the worst punishment he can get is a £25k fine from the courts.

To be clear, so you can't wriggle out of it:

I am offering to wager £20 to Kick racism out of football if Terry is found guilty of racism and doesn't recieve at least an 8 match ban and a £40k fine.

- took me a while to get that.

A paranoid or prophetic post from RAWK (not me BTW) about tomorrow ?:

Quote:
Being completely honest, I'm not even looking forward to this match. I usually am, I absolutely love this fixture, but currently I'm just massively ****** off with football, and this fixture will highlight the reasons why.

The highlighting of the handshake, and Sky banging on about it, doing a close up and then a ******* slow motion replay.
Then we'll have the silence for the Munich victims. This will either be ruined by one or two gob****es, followed by loads of bad feeling for the entire game, OR it'll be carried out without fuss and a few minutes later the Utd fans will reward Liverpool fans for their respect by singing songs about Hillsborough, chanting "murderers", and generally mocking our dead, without even the slightest whiff of hypocrisy.
Next up, loads of booing every time Suarez touches the ball, followed by chants of "racist *******" as the Sky cameras focus on it once again, like it's actually more important than the match itself. Who knows, they may even comment on the songs being aimed at Suarez as if they're all ok, whereas two weeks ago they were quite happy not to mention the audible cries of "murderers" and "you killed your own".
Hopefully, the commentators and team in the studio can discuss the racism issue all over again, highlighting its importance, and then in the next breath talking about the need for an English manager to lead the English football team. Again, without any hint of irony.

And on it goes.

Am I seriously supposed to be looking forward to this? I'd quite like some atmosphere to the game, but I'll probably have to mute the entire thing just to get through it. Obviously this is because I'm massively negative and not in any way just being realistic, but there you go

And to think most of that could have been avoided with a private apology from Suarez to Evra.

I'm torn. I partly hope Evra shows himself to be the better man by shaking Suarez's hand (which would show what a monumental **** Suarez must be for a scrot-rag like Evra to be a better man). But then I think, why should he? Suarez has behaved apallingly and shows no remorse.

But I can almost excuse Suaraz. He's a young footballer and like most of them, he's an idiot.

Dalglish and the club have behaved far worse IMO.

I personally think the game will be rather good, played in the normal fun natured way these two bitter but really quite friendly rivals normally conduct themselves. The conduct of both sets of fans will no doubt be exemplary.

Count ourselves lucky that sky will probably have Jamie Redknapp and Gary Neville squaring off in the studio. A battle of wits and knowledge which will no doubt leave us enthralled and wishing the players would hurry up so we can get back to the feuding pundits in the studio. Stuart Pearce and Paul Ince won't be able to make it unfortunately.

it always saddens me deeply when a former player has to do this, it'd be really nice if LFC, or even better, one of the current 'superstars' buys them, and then gives him them back.

LFC should do it and put them in the museum...

Although that European Cup medal would look good in my house.

As per usual totally wrong. He took a penalty before the 96 Cup final and was reported by a benefits officer at the game. He was reduced to the lower level of benefits and lost his appeal against the reduction. He has had 2 knee replacements, a hip replacement and suffers from rheumatoid arthritis. His benefits were increased a few years later after a further medical examination.
So I'm not sure he could be considered fit as a fiddle.
