POTS + TOTS so far

So just past the 2/3 mark in the Premier League, I was wondering what people have as their players and team of the season so far?

POTS:

1. David Silva
2. Robin Van Persie
3. Vincent Kompany
4. Michel Vorm
5. Stephane Sessegnon

TOTS:

-------------------Vorm--------------------

Walker----Kompany-------Skrtel--------BAE

Mata--------Parker------Sessegnon----Silva

----------------Ba-------Van Persie---------

Subs: Friedel, Collocini, Williams, Y.Toure, Modric, Rooney, Aguero

It'll be intersting to revisit at the end of the season and see if you still agree.

Good shout there! Flicking through my fantasy football stats etc and taking into account a bit of common sense you're pretty spot on. Not 100% with Mata but definitely a more capable player than maybe Sinclair. Walcott and Bale both score highly but as both fans'll testify can go missing for game after game. I'd have Parker in POTS but I'm biased like that!

Some of the Spurs fans will love you putting BAE in the Team of the Season

And some'll be livid! What about Most Improved (MIP's?) - I'd stick him in that.

Yes I did think they would like it! Enrique has also been good for Liverpool but BAE has offered more going forward than Enrique IMO plus I think BAE is slightly the better defender one on one.

Valencia has been immense this season and been playing a lot better than Mata.

Also no love for Joe Allen?

I know as a City fan I wouldn't swap Hart for Michel Vorm.

You left out Yaya Toure from the starting 11 which is in my mind criminal.

Walker over Richards for right back?

Good idea for a debate Bear

I don't know enough about all of the players in the Premier League, but Hart, Richards, Kompany, Silva & Yaya must be in with a shout as the best players in their positions.

Valencia has only been great for a short-ish spell recently though hasn't he?

Yaya Toure is a great box to box player but he doesn't actually score or assist THAT many IIRC. Ramires is similar. IMO Sessegnon has a greater output and has been more vital to his team. Same reason that Ba gets in ahead of Aguero.

Joe Allen looks a good player but it's early days for him still. Especially now Sigurdsson has come in and took his place.

Vorm is in over Hart because of the sheer amount of points he has saved Swansea this season. I accept that Hart is the better keeper but he hasn't had nearly as hard a job.

Richards - Been great but Kyle Walker is ever present in Spurs' team whereas Mancini sees it fit to rotate Zabaleta and Richards around on a seemingly weekly basis.

Simpson has been better than both Walker and Richards imho

Not watched enough to pick a whole team but from watching Spurs I doubt many have done better than Kyle Walker (have to laugh at the BAE suggestions though!), Micah Richards always looks class when I’ve seen him too though. I think Parker is slightly over rated tbh, he just really fits the Spurs midfield and allows the others to play.

Player of the season has to be Van Persie, followed by Silva and Nani. Not seen much of Sessegnon but I pretty much agree with the OP's list. Others less obvious choices I’ve liked the look of:

Heitinga, Fellaini (both Everton)
Dempsey (Fulham)
Cabaye (Newcastle)
Sturridge (Chelsea)
Muamba (Bolton)

I think it's got to be van Persie over anyone else, given what he's done in the last 15 months.

Other players that have impressed me are:
Hart, Kompany, Yaya and Silva at Man City
Jones and Giggs at Man Utd
Modric and Bale at Spurs
Mata at Chelsea
Reina at Liverpool
Ba, Tiote and Krul at Newcastle
Holt and Morison at Norwich
Larsson and Sessegnon at Sunderland
Dempsey and Etuhu at Fulham
Walters at Stoke
Odemwingie at West Brom
Vorm, Sinclair and Dyer at Swansea
Jarvis, Fletcher and Doyle at Wolves
Yakubu and Hoillet at Blackburn

For me:

POTS:
1. Robin Van Persie
2. David Silva
3. Yaya Toure
4. Juan Mata
5. Scott Parker

There is no defender in there so Parker or Mata might be pushed out on that basis for Kompany. RVP is a cert for this for me.

I despise the City project, but..............

TOTS:

-----------Vorm Hart--------------------

Walker Richards----Kompany-------Skrtel--------BAE

Mata--------Parker------Sessegnon Y Toure----Silva

----------------Ba Aguero-------Van Persie---------

Ba/Aguero was on a knife edge for me, Ba is more critical to Newcastle, but Aguero is the better player. Yaya is critical to Man City's team, you could see how much he was missed during the African Cup. I've seen Walker struggle a few times, whereas Richards has been consistently good when I have watched him . Enrique's form has dipped since Christmas or else I would have picked him over BAE. Skrtel/Agger is a top partnership so I considered Agger instead of Skrtel, but Skrtel has played more and scored more goals.

I was under the impression Newcastle fans didn't particularly like him? Certainly on the boards I went on on Sat night.

I almost did a best player at each club list.

I'd add in Morrison at West Brom and Diame at Wigan to the above.
