Awful game. But beating City and Liverpool in successive rounds on their own turf was always going to be a big ask.

Fair play to Liverpool. As far as United are concerned simply not good enough. Such a poor poor team.

It's a shame it had to be Liverpool but I'm not bothered about the FA Cup at all and we certainly don't need a replay in among the current run of fixtures. Hopefully we can save the next draw or defeat for the UEFA Cup games.

I thought United absolutely bossed them in the first half, without really creating too many chances. Liverpool only really turned up for the last 15 minutes, and when they got a set piece. Not overly gutted about the performance overall, considering we were at their place.

And I learnt today that you can't be offside from a goal kick - genuinely didn't know that before. I was rewinding the Kuyt goal and cursing the fact that Carrol was a mile offside, until I checked the rules - felt a bit of a twit then.

Depressing times for United at the moment:
1)Current team: not good enough - no where near!
2)Out of the fa cup to a poor Liverpool team
3)Out of the league cup to Crystal Palace(even s combination of 1st team and squad players) couldn't beat palace at home.
4)Out of champions league - failure to defeat Basel and Benfica home and away
5) An ageing midfield anchored by players 35+
6) Rooney apart, no class striker up front
7) Glazers continue to bleed money out the club
8) failures over the past 3 seasons to purchase a midfielder. When will this ever be addressed
9) will we win the league - highly doubtful.
10) will we win the Europa cup - highly doubtful.

I thought we were poor after the goal, and you bossed the game, looked dangerous coming forward every time, whilst we were laboured. How much that has to do with us being so negative, and allowing you to do it, I don't know. Valencia played really well, easily MOTM. I really expected Hernandex to snatch it at the death, so was relieved when Kuyt scored.

Nail on head apart from Rooney, I doubt too many non United fans would call him a class striker. Class player yes.

The League is completely doable. We've come from further behind than this to win it before. I think City will win it but we stand a decent enough chance unless our injuries get even worse.

I't little to do with injuries, it's to do with not having enough quality players.

Not having our 2 first choice centre-backs, nor our 2 most creative players didn't make a difference then? Interesting.

Utd managed to beat Arsenal and City, then a disappointing, extraordinarily narrow defeat (AT ANFIELD!!) and the world is coming to an end. Again. It's farcical.

Poor performance in the second half, lots of possession in the first but just no cutting edge.

So, if United win absolutely nothing this season, which is now a lot more probable than improbable, when was the last time United won nothing all season? I can still remember barely winning the league cup a few years back, but that's still one "major" trophy...
