Evra's arm is clearly out seconds before the City player runs into him. It was obstruction and probably a free kick but there's nothing else there.

4 match ban for Kompany confirmed after City's appeal is rejected.

http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Disciplin...kompany-100112

Not surprising really. No way they were going to go against the referees judgement for a decision like that.

City should consider themselves grateful that it wasn't deemed a "frivolous appeal" (which it was) and wasn't extended to 5 games, nor was it extended for his failure to leave the pitch, nor are they being fined £20k for failing to control their players.

Like 20000 is going to matter to Mansour. He's probably wiped his arse on more expensive toilet paper.

How was it frivolous when pretty much every pundit, reporter and even Graham Poll said the Ref had made a mistake?.

He didn't get it over turned that's just the way it goes I wished Adam that you would look at LFC the same way that you look at MCFC you may give yourself a shock

It was frivolous cause there wasn't a hope in hell's chance it would be rescinded. Before 'fast tracking' was introduced, appealing was often used to make sure a player sent off at the weekend was available for a midweek game - it could easily be argued, that City were only appealing to do just that.

In what way am I looking at them differently ? LFC got fined £20k for doing (in the Fulham game) what City did on Sunday and LFC players get extended bans when they fail to leave the pitch in an orderly fashion.

"Brunty is right".

And I didn't expect to be saying that anytime in 2012 either. :P

I would say that the fact he actually won the ball clearly kind of disproves your theory.

Disappointing to be without Kompany tonight, but we need to draw a line under that otherwise we'll end up like the Liverpool thread.

As we're also without Yaya (and possibly Silva, Balotelli & Dzeko), it could be a tough game for us tonight. However, the 2nd half against United showed that with 10 men we could still play a decent game and I'm hoping that the fighting spirit of the likes of Aguero, Milner, Zabaleta and Richards can carry us through. At least Barry's back as well.

Indeed, but as the hearing was yesterday I think it was topical. Onwards and upwards. I think that Mario and or Edin will be back tonight and (famous last words) I feel confident about a win

Struggling for positives tonight. Joe Hart kept the score down; we're still in the tie and Nasri at least showed a bit of gumption when he came on; Richards was full of running again. However we hardly created any clear cut chances and in that respect, we were lucky to get nil. Liverpool created the better chances and although they parked the bus 2nd half, I don't blame them one bit. They clearly were the better team (but only because we were so awful).

The ties not over, but we need a massive improvment at Anfield. At times like this, we just have to dig in, collect points in the league and hope we're still in with a shout for the various competitions when we get our mojo back.
