The result we should've got last week. Great victory - starting to get quite good away from home, particularly at clubs we've struggled against.

Well it wasn't pretty but it rarely is in a Blackburn match so I am happy with 3 points

VDV took his goals beautifully, despite not doing a great deal in other areas of the pitch he has done a fantastic goalscoring job for us.

Would be very happy with 16 points +
I had in mind, perhaps conservatively, that we'd get 4 home wins & 4 away draws; so we're two points up already.

Only 4 points of second, with a game in hand.

What happened at Old Trafford makes me feel a little bit better regarding our second game

that was with Balotelli up front too! Such an important series of games coming up for us to make our mark, just hope the players stay focussed and free of injury

yep, got to just see the defeats to the manc clubs as inevitable and be impressed with our results more generally.

I still don't think VDV suits us as he can't (won't?) play instead of Lennon on the right due to lack of pace and Modric isn't going to be dropped in the middle (though I suppose if Bale is ever injured he could be shifted out left), so we have to play five in midfield. This allows VDV to get goalscoring chances but really it doesn't suit the side as a whole.

Also going to need at least one centre back soon, anyone know the deal with Gallas?

Dawson's ahead of schedule isn't he? And I haven't seen anything about King after coming off last week (but assume the worst).

Good point about Gallas though - not a lot of info out there.

I had heard that Kings injury isn't as bad as first expected and he could be 'match fit' in a few weeks time. Kaboul has been generally very good so far this season despite playing beside Bassong who has concentration issues and Dawson who started the season very poorly. The extended run has served him well particularly the 4 or 5 games with King, I think that may mean that the best CB signing we could make would be a relative veteran who has the experience required to keep the likes of Kaboul, Dawson and Bassong in line and focused on doing the simple things right.

Think we need to sign Cahill or Samba. Get that first choice regular. Ship out Bassong and then use Kaboul/Dawson as fit. Ledley just isnt fit often enough and seems like ages since Gallas featured.

Pleased with holding on for the result against Blackburn. This run of games looks easier on paper but we often slip up in these type of games. If we can get 20 odd points from the next 8 games then we will be in a strong position for top 4. Chelsea are inconsistent and Liverpool need time to gel.

Think this season is an excellent chance to consolidate and improve the squad to challenge regularly. Top striker must be a priority in January along with a centre back.

Hasn't that been your priority for a few windows though (to sign a top striker)? I think Levy won't give him the cheque book because he thinks harry will leave for the england at the end of the season?

Will be interesting where cahill will go though. I have read reports arsenal will be interested in him again, but after signing mertsacker, i can't really see him joining unless we sell squallchi

Not gonna happen
a) Adebayor here for the season (though unlikely to stay any longer IMO)
b) we generally now play him on his own anyway
c) where's the cash? Most of the deadwood (bar Stoke's contribution to our coffers) only went on loan.

I can't see us signing the big Ł30m striker people think we need, our best hope is finding someone a bit more risky who the top clubs aren't yet after (eg Berbatov and Suarez too for that matter). Won't happen in January anyway.

Agree on centre backs, King must be put out of his misery, I think Gallas will be backup only for this season then released and Bassong isn't top class. So only leaves Kaboul who has been the best so far, Dawson and at a push, Corluka though he seems to be well out of favour these days..

No comments on possibly our best 1st Half of the season?

Can't believe the number of misses but 2-0 at HT isn't bad. Need to score 2 more to go 4th

not really prone to hyperbole, including when we got smashed by Mancs, but this is a masterclass from front to back. Highly impressive stuff though QPR are pretty average.

Perhaps worth a fiver on us coming third at the moment with Chelski stumbling

superb Bale goal, was worried we would regret not capitalising in the first half.

Adebayor plays an important role for us (despite shaky finishing today) and you can't argue with VDV's goals, but I hope Defoe still gets a chance to play as otherwise he will leave again. Ade could have had 3 today and I can't help thinking Defoe would have got one or two

Great game between two proper football clubs. Some sublime football from Tottenham, and yet QPR were close to nicking something. Parker is just the quintessential English footballer, he's a revelation. Shame he's not five years younger.

Really slick passing today especially for the third goal (shades of Barca). Surprised to see VdV last the whole duration although QPR were poor, even deadly Ledley had a shot on goal

Excellent first half but the only criticism would be some sloppiness in the 2nd half leading to QPR actually looking like they were in with a shout when in reality we should have been far out of sight.

Fantastic performance by Scott Parker, our ball retention in that second half was abysmal.

Would've posted at half time but had/have the headache from hell.

Fantastic first class apart from Adebayors wayward radar.

Knew at half time that QPR couldn't be as bad/invisible in the 2nd and wanted Defoe and Sandro on for Ade and Modric.

Whether we were lazy or tired in parts of the 2nd half, invited a fair bit of pressure onto ourselves.

Lennon had one of his better games of more recent times and although he worked hard, Walker was a tad shaky in places and we rode our luck once or twice.

That was 90 plus minutes of football without a single yellow card wasn't it ? so shows it can be done.

Parker was very workmanlike and gave exactly what the occasion demanded, though would've maybe swapped him out 5 or 10 minutes earlier as he looked out on his feet.

Great to have King back in the middle, such a shame that his career has been blighted but always nice to see him steady our ship.

Wonder if Taarabt was checking the bus timetables again ?

Barton was almost invisible today as well.

Would be good if we could get back our game in hand and move into third.

Well done to Spurs today, they have put a hell of a run together. City play QPR at their place next week so I hope we can turn them over!! Luckily enough it's on the telly so that will be a trip to the pub.

Congrats again on your win, Parker seems to be one hell of a buy for you boys
