The Official Liverpool Thread 2010/2011 On the mend...

Looks like we have a brand new thread...

Hopefully we can have better luck with it.

Transfer window open across Europe...

Let's see who goes and who stays.

Where has that £15M budget been reported? I could only find it in the mail, who in the same report say Hangeland and Murphy are wanted, despite part of the deal bringing Hodgson in bars him from signing Fulham players

Am I mad to think we should be putting in a call to Joe Coles agent?

09/10 - the season, and a pretty good guess at our position in the league come May next year.

I can only imagine there is already a quiet deal done with someone.

At £10 million he'd be a bargain - for free he's a steal (unless he's asking for really silly money).

I would love joe cole, but i just cant see him in a liverpool shirt. Some players will never play for certain clubs, and i think this is one of those cases. Couldnt see him leaving london.

Broughton and Purslow should burn in hell. Along with G&H.

Purslow made it clear in his interview with SOS that all wages for new contracts come from the transfer budget. If Cole wants £100k a week, for instance, a 3 year deal would effectively use up our entire (alledged) £15m transfer budget.

Broughton basically said:

1. He was there till the sale completed and no longer.
2. He has no agenda with Hick and Gillette he works for Barc. Cap and that H&G have no say in the sale now (it is an seller-buyer auction almost). There is no price set in stone.
3. They are well into the sale process with numerous interested parties. First bids should be around Mid July, he did not expect any till that point due to due process.
4. He envisages (all being well) that the club will be sold by the end of August. It won't be the highest bidder but 'best buyer'..
5. He stated that Kenny wanted the job but he and the board thought it best he stayed on in his current role (although expanded from last season, agreed with by Roy). Also, he stated taht Kenny recommended Roy. This bit made me think he was being very honest, he will get some stick for that statement alone.
6. No players are needed to be sold, it will be down to them if they want to go. They have been contacted and all staff are optimistic they will stay.
7. Day to Day running is in the control of Purslow, Ayre and Nash

I have no idea while people think he has an agenda against us, he is just doing what any businessman would have done. Frankly, it is something we have missed for a long time.

Hodgson seemed extremely happy to be there. He obviously could not answer half teh questions haveing been there all of 4-5 hours, but he seemed very dignified and frank.

Tony Evans claims he's heard all the big name players have told their agents to get them out of Liverpool.

Is he The Echo? Where has he said this? I'm saddened if its true. I wouldn't be too upset if Monster and STeg went, but I'd like to keep Nando

OK, ta.

The way I *like* to see it is that today was a great day if we take them at face value with everything they said. Roy is a contentious appointment and I do not challenge that. I'm unconvinced but support him and have hope that he can do good given he has at times in the past. Seel Monster, sell Steg and reinvest in problem positions.

But thats not gonna happen, is it? Something doesn't sit right until we see it happen. I hope its all good come September 1.

I can't imagine that this is true but if it is sod them, no player is bigger than the club and if they don't want to play for LFC then they shouldn't be there, instead of begrudgingly pulling on a shirt every week.

Lets face it most of them are overpaid primadonnas anyway

You'll have a couple of league games and some UEFA qualifiers before then.

Your season could be over by 1st September
