Is Wilshere English? Hope he is. Dont want him ending up like that idiot Ramsey and opting to play for Wales. Yeah, you just killed your international career, son.

Pretty decent performance today for a pre-season game. Wilshere looked far and away our biggest threat, but that second goal from Arshy was good to see that Eduardo would have been on hand to tap it in if needed As goonerforever says though, it shows that despite it happening time & again last season, we still haven't managed to hold our concentration at the back right up until the last minute.

Just back from the games today. The main though I have is its shocking how most the Rangers fans left after their game and those that remained still managed to create far more atmosphere than the Arsenal fans.

One of the biggest problems we have is that real fans are probably in the minority. The majority seem to be made up with tourists (who spend much of the match taking souvenir photos) & corporate types who really couldn't care who wins! Then of course you have the (dare I say it?) middle classes who seem to think it's impolite to make a sound!
Should be a better atmosphere at this afternoons game. Probably winner takes all.

The travelling Rangers support is amazing. We have a great song repetoire to pick from, although 1 has been banned by UEFA.

Can't wait to see the atmosphere at todays biggie against you lot

As long as the free public TV screens stay working.

I bet he's pleased there wasn't any injury time, cos we all know it would have been 2-2.

And where is the repeat this weekend?

This has been done to death, I was at Manchester, headed home as soon as the big screen WAS SWITCHED OFF, didn't see any trouble. There are always a certain % of dickheads follow every team. A lot of those who rioted would not have been from Scotland, let alone Rangers fans.

This is what the Arsenal Office Website had to say about the Rangers fans

"Before the clash Arsčne Wenger predicted that the Rangers fans would be ‘fired up’ for their trip to the English capital. And the Arsenal manager was certainly proven right in the early stages, with the blue section of the stadium careering through their extensive song book."

I was and could point to some very good footage on the net if you like? Of course not all were guilty, but it was like a return to the 1980's. The state of the city centre the next morning was evidence of that.

Back to Arsenal, I don't know if you boys are interested but this is what Toure had to say
Quote:
I came to Man City because when you look at Arsenal you see all the great players have left the club and are now in the past.

"Look at what has happened there. Thierry Henry has gone, Patrick Vieira has gone, Ray Parlour has gone.

"These were the players that brought success to Arsenal and I believed it was right at this stage of my career to also move on.

"We lost too many leaders at Arsenal. When we were winning the league title the spirit was fantastic, we were like a band of brothers."

Toure also defended City's spending policy, which has seen them criticised in some quarters for distorting the market.

"The best teams are at the top only because they have the best players and to get those players you have to spend a lot of money," he said.

"You can't be successful in football without money. This is the football business. City have a project to build a big team and so it is natural it is going to cost money.
I for one will be very interested in how much Wenger will get to spend and also will be very interested in how he spends it. He's a master of 'unearthing' wonderful talent.

Did it not occur to him, a 28 year old man that'd been at the club for so long to assume a 'leadership' role?

There's so many holes in what Toure's been spouting today that it really is dissapointing to read him doing so.

Good luck to him as he's earned his payday but he really should just keep schtum and only look & talk about City now.
