Having said that, Arsene always knows best?......
As an outsider the impression I get is Arsenal trying to get in money in case they fail to finish in the top 4 next season. Don't Arsenal also have to play a qualifyer this season against a half decent side? so might not get in the groups anyway.

0-1 at half time, the goal from Fabregas was a thing of beauty great build up from Bendtner & particularly vanPersie. Good game so far.

Really poor second half, the defence was all over the place & Ramsey on for Cesc just didn't get into the game. Finished 0-1.

Clichy saying that he hopes to be ready for the Emirates cup, not sure about Diaby. Where is Rosicky?

I think it will be a short term solution, 1 maybe 2 seasons max, but one I would be happy to see.

According to The Mirror (granted it's not exactly a solid back up ), it was mentioned by Ian Wright on TalkSport that Vieira would return on a 'pay as you play' basis. I would also welcome it as even though he may not still have the pace, he definitely won't have lost the ability to tackle and put his foot in. I doubt he'd play every game but he would be an invaluable experienced player to our youngsters, most of whom I think weren't at the club when Vieira was? Could be mistaken though.

Well I was hoping for a arsene to grab a sensational signing rumours have it paddy could be on his way back mmmmm my imediate reaction is all tho he will go down as an Arsenal legend methinks its a step backwards but would welcome him back I also heard spurs were interested in signing him (he would'nt possibly consider going there would he)

I hear we are favourites to sign Huntelaar now that we have expressed an interest ... all hearsay at the moment I know

Also Eboue might be off to spain ....we need to buy some quality players !!!!

PS anyone from the forum going to see the emirates cup this weekend?

Kind of makes a little sense seeing as all the CM's at the club are all around the same age - 21/22 and bringing back Vieira would alleviate some of the pressure on them whilst at the same time save Wenger from buying an 'inbetweener', and to paraphrase Wenger, halt the yout's progress.

Still very hard to believe though.

I know there's lots of rumours flying about about Eboue saying goodbye to the fans last night but the footage doesn't really show an awful lot and it's not that inconceivable that he was merely saying 'see you later' back in Blighty. Especially as there's photos on Arse.com of him having a laugh with some of the fans in Austria.

Wenger seems very keen on a 4-3-3 at the moment and Gallas and Verm at CB.

I'm armchairing it on Saturday and/or Sunday. Still tickets available though when I checked a few days back and I think Ticketmaster are running a 25% off promo; though by the time you've added on all their charges it kinda cancels out.

Since Viera left he's been crap against any English opposition he's faced in the Champs League. Fabregas made him look a gimp.

Imo he would steady the ship, but he'd concede a lot of fouls as he's no longer quick enough for the premiership pace.

Not seen how the 433 has been working, I assume Denilsion and Song were the conventional CM with Cesc in a more attack role at the point of a diamond?

Not sure if Rosicky or Nasri could play the very high and wide roles?!

Yesterday he probably spent more time in front of the back four than anywhere else, although to be fair, he was absolutely everywhere. A great performance

Aye but Cesc was both roaming forward and back; picking up the ball from Gallas whilst also popping up to score.

Edit: I see Ralph beat me to it

The front, and very deifinite, three last night were

Bendtner RvP Arsh - swapping about a bit.

I wonder if we'll see Nasri, Cesc and one of Denilson/ Song in the middle this season...

I was thinking that too, which won't be a bad thing, I think Eboue will go, his spot as a back up winger will go to Mérida.

A winger complement of Theo, Arshavin, Rosicky and Nasri with Mérida and Ramsey as back up is strong.

Cesc, Diaby, Denilson, Song and possibly Vieira with Wiltshire as back up will be a good set of CM's

RvP, Eduardo, Bentdner and +1 new striker with Vela as cover could be ok is we buy a £15-20m replacement for Ade

LB is covered with Clichy, Gibbs and if we get desperate Traore, Gallas and Vermaelen will be the first choice pair at the back with Silvestre, Senderos and Djourou as cover.

The only area for concern I see now if RB as we have no back up for Sanga is Eboue is sold unless you call Hoyte adequate.

So all in all get Vieira + 1 Striker and we are £20m in profit, with a lower wage bill and most fans happy as we bring Pat back to easy our lack of experience troubles.
