My mistake. I meant 4th. Arsenal will finish 4th behind Chelsea and Liverpool.

As for Swiss Tone, Wenger said after one of the recent friendlies something like "Senderos has to decide what he wants", which I took to mean "which club to go to".

[QUOTE=Peter UK;8715689]Doesn't make sense to call out for replacements in one breath and then say that a new replacement that actually has come in could very well be crap in the next breath.

[QUOTE]

It doesn't make sense to get rid of potentially 3 proven players and replace only one of them with a complete unknown quantity. Regardless of what fans think of said players, it means even less strength in depth than previous years. No other top 4 club gets rid of key players (to a club with bottomless pockets vying for your league placing) and either doesn't replace them or replaces with someone that could potentially, might be, at some point a good player. Or be Igor Stepanovs in disguise.

Wouldn't mind betting that when we play City, Kolo gets cheered & Ade gets booed.
Ade scored 30 goals and worked his ******** off as well until that summer

Anyway I know I'm never going to get anyone to agree with me that Toure got off tres lightly considering the general discontent amongst fans last season. I just can't personally get my head round it but what am I gonna do?...

Well I would say the English champions are significantly weaker, on paper, as it stands, with their transfer in and outs.

Arsene hasn't sold three players yet.

He's brought in a replacement for a player that doesn't/ didn't want to be at the club - should he leave.

Got rid of a player that pretty much everyone wanted to see the back of, and if he's happy with EdS and RvP's fitness then so be it. The pair of them are very good players right now. A lot of Ade's critics, and whilst you may not have been one, said he would never be good enough yet now you're worrying about bringing in someone better than him?

How often has Wenger brought in a player from another Premier League club? Not very often at all when you look at the amount of players he's bought, and when he does they're cast offs that are immediately written off. So, IMO, there's no point worrying about replacing 'proven' players with other 'proven' players simply because the majority of his transfers come from another league and the 'proven' ones you ask for are inevitably those young players coming through like Denilson, like Bendtner, like Song, like Djourou.

You complain when fans have a go at players & then complain that Cesc & Kolo "got off lightly"

Just a word of warning, arseblog is definitely NSFW I generally check out Young Guns, although as the name suggests, it generally focuses on the youth players.

I know, I know, a miserable getting-old-alarmingly-quick () groany old sod.

Still, I much prefer the Tour(d)enial than Adebayscorn approach. Much better to pretend it isn't there imo

Young Guns is easily the best of Arsenal blogs out there; I'm sure the guy that runs it is like 17 or so

I think we are seriously screwed, the situation has the air of 'we are skint and need the cash and will make do with the unproven youngsters'.

Or it could be on the skint theme again that we have got rid of the players who wants some serious investment for us to challenge and therefore have been sold off.....

Having said that, Arsene always knows best?......

I'm still confident that we''ll finish top 4 & maybe even challenge for the title. I understand people's worries, but a couple more signings & the mood among supporters will change.

Toure's agreed terms

Although on the plus side this will now put an end to the Yaya's Signing stories

Aye so it will. Still, he absolutely schooled the Spurs midfield the other day; probably didn't help them that Palacios' passing was utter garbage though.

We need Tony Adams now!

Now I am a firm believer of the faith and wisdom of Wenger when it comes to free flowing attractive attacking football, however we can only implement free flowing attractive attacking football when we have the ball in our possession. Wenger has, it seems, an in inherit lack of knowledge when it comes to defending, this could be seen at his failure to recruit, polish and keep a gem of a defender this is where I see a key role for Tony Adams to come in and be our defensive coach/assistant manager, we need his experience and knowledge of how to stop conceding goals!!!!

You honestly think that? I know he inherited most of the players (and Adams himself played a big part) but the team circa '98/'99 had arguably one of the best defensive units the game has ever seen.

(But still not good enough to stop the hairy-chested Welshman ...)
