one year contract ext screams to me ( like peter) if you want me to join you give voila more cash........

Its not a 2 or 4 year ext.
Nope, it's standard practice...

They only signed him last season on a 4 year contract.

Not going to whack 2 or more years onto the back of it.

It's what we do with all of our stars...i.e. Torres.

It also means he can get a pay bump as well...and he seems happy to stay.

I was watching a bit of the Spurs CC game from Jan 07 and, whilst I did previously maintain he hadn't done enough often enough for me, Arsenal sorely missed him in that Hlebless midfield.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that both of them can come back at least as strong as before. Be a crying shame if two such big talents were both put out the game

We never do with these things, it's always "long term".

If you sell him it could well mean you drop out of the top 4 next season, in which case virtually no amount of money as a transfer fee would be worth it.

Why would Arsenal sell him? They only bought him just over 5 months ago

Van Persie now too although not 'official' yet

'Sources close to the club have indicated that even if Wenger loses Emmanuel Adebayor this summer –despite the fact that there is less interest in him than 12 months ago – Wenger will not look to sign another striker. Instead he will stick with his current selection – Van Persie, Walcott, Nicklas Bendtner, Eduardo da Silva and Carlos Vela – for the new season.'

I think we may well see that happen Edu's recovery depending.

LOL.

I have to say though that Arseblogger is a right royal moaning ****** who's now so far up his own arse he leaves Myles Palmer for dust. And the less I say about most Gooner's self-destruct bite their nose off tendencies the better I think.

Still, it is most refreshing, and most rare, to open up the rag's and see Ronnie and Tevez being replaced by Valencia and Owen, the Chelsea captain being seriously linked with a move away and Mascherano and Alonso likewise with **** all stories about the never ending Arsenal crisis. Bar Ade all but leaving obviously. They must've got bored of it.

Still, I think United have got off lightly when I remember how bad the Arse were going to do post-Henry; the doomsayers have stayed away.

However, Fiorentina have now posted an official announcement on their website, in which transfer chief Pantaleo Corvino sets the record straight.

Corvino claims that Arsenal are the only club to have tabled an offer for Felipe Melo, who has a release clause of €25 million, and suggests that Fiorentina are prepared to sell if Emmanuel Eboue is included as part of the exchange.

“The director [Corvino] points out that Arsenal FC are the only club that has come close to [Felipe Melo’s] release clause.

“Fiorentina, in turn, has proposed that the clubs reduce the amount of this clause by entering into negotiations the right back Eboue.”

On the rumours of an alleged agreement between Felipe Melo's agents and Juventus, Fiorentina did not deny that those two parties may have reached an accord.

"In the event that the player has already agreed terms with another club, the buy-out clause the player has with his club to the value of €25 million does not take into consideration any technical exchanges (player exchanges), unless Fiorentina is in agreement."

you should have seen the doom on united forums after RVN was sold. Most united fans had written united off before the season started.

3 league titles in a row, and a CL win later .....

forums, particularly the team specific ones, do always tend towards the extreme pessimism, well the decent ones do anyway.

the panglossian numpty filled forums do still exist though.

Aye, there's always going to be the uncertainty of 'what comes next' but I wonder how the United fans took to the new or more featured players in the following season(s)? I'd hazard a guess and say a lot better than, what seems like, the majority of Gooners.

we only signed carrick.
