I know its only paper talk, but I am liking the rumours of Gareth Barry being interested in Arsenal, also I know its a bit out of left field but I think Boro's David Wheater would be an ideal "Wenger-esque" signing and at Ł6m or so great value.

Wheater is probably the most un-Wenger player around.

He's slow in movement, decision-making and in the head. If you want someone who just toe-punts the ball aimlessly into open space, or to the opposition's keeper then he's the man; or if you want someone that turns like an oil tanker, can't pass and flaps about when under pressure from someone just running, then try him.

Anyway, it looks as if he's committed to Boro and Wenger could do miles, miles better with half of whatever fee Boro would demand for him.

Agree Simonmac regarding Barry, would be a good purchase.

I would not mind getting in Steven Taylor from Newcastle, at a young age very experienced. I cannot see Alonso leaving Liverpool, he has been their best player this year.

Another defender i like is Lescott, we should try and sign him.

Reaching Reyes-talent-wasting levels now....

Two kids in front of such a good player takes the utter **** though

Never heard of him, but at least A) he's a CB and B) his balls have dropped so should be able to play in the first team straight away.

From reading on other sites he's hardly the tall, no nonsense CB we're crying out for though, says on wiki that he's only 5ft 11ins.

Seems this move is on and isn't just talk:

There has been no confirmation from either side, but Vermaelen has broken his silence to say he is ready for the step up to The Premier League.

”In the coming days there will be more talks,” Vermaelen told Algemeen Dagblad. “Moving to Arsenal is the right path for me.

”It is a great sporting challenge and I will also be financially better off.

”I think everything is going to be okay.”

/although it wouldn't be that unusual for an Ajax player to say this and move to Liverpool *cough*Ba-waster-Bel*cough*

Such an early signing a good sign though....

Gibbs scored twice in the under 21s match! He's going to be something else in a few years. He's already been outstanding against some big teams this season for you guys.

A VERY late heads-up, Sunu & Coquelin are playing for France U18 against England Schoolboys on Setanta now!

This was taken from Sky Sports News today, then pulled pretty much straight away.

It's from a Manchester City forum, don't know how genuine it is, but thought you boys might appreciate it

Us as the 6th game of the season

He's a good player; finishing aside

So over the past week we've had

Cesc wants to leave: Same day Cesc says he doesn't
Clichy's going to Real: Same day Clichy says he's staying
Sagna's open to a Real move: Same day Sagna says that's liiiieeesss

I see a pattern

Why has Eboue been linked with Real Madrid or Barca too?
