Don't go buying those tickets yet!

Burnley are attempting to get Tottenham Hotspur thrown out of the Carling Cup final at Wembley as they believe Jermain Defoe was not eligible to play in last week's semi-final.
The Championship side will write to the Football League on whether Defoe should have appeared in the second leg - when he was not eligible for the first.
The Clarets believe the rulebook state players must be signed before the 'tie' starts as both legs are part of the one result,

Jermain Defoe
It is understood Defoe was not registered as a Spurs player before the first leg despite being unveiled to fans at White Hart Lane following his impending transfer from Portsmouth.

Burnley were two minutes from Wembley last week after dragging Spurs level 4-4 on aggregate before losing 6-4 in extra-time.

Roman Pavlyuchenko scored one and Defoe netted the other leaving Burnley to study the rulebook.

Brilliant!

Which plonker let that happen?

Arry really is doing a bang up job aint he?

Dont worry just yet, its not like what he did with Southampton just yet!

Cudicini has signed on a free from Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if he is as good as was before he put himself into semi retirement on the Chelsea bench.

If he is still as good, he's a cracking signing.

Will he be the no.2 keeper though?

Chimbonda in talks this morning apparently.

Hope so....I thought he was one of the best in the Premiership before Petr Cech sidelined him.

Gotta agree - and if he can recapture that form he should be first choice keeper. Good signing IMO

He never really impressed me any time he came in for Cech recently but I suppose very few keepers would look good in comparison!

I didn't realise Cudicini is 35 either. After nearly five years on the bench, I doubt we can expect to see him back where he once was. Gomez has the potential to be a better long term option, so Cudicini may well have to get used to our bench now.

It will allow Gomez time to fully recover though.

Excellent cover for Gomes - Alnwick obviously still has some way to go but I still think it's a bit weird how Arry didn't have any faith in Cesar.

Quite a nice surprise that Cudicini has decided he's had enough of warming the Chelsea bench and actually wants to play football (NB - also see 'Wayne Bridge').

bloody hell, this is embarrassing. Cudicini was good but is aging and surely lacking motivation.

Chimbonda is a disaster signing, exactly the type of attitude we don’t need. Luckily Mido has moved recently so we won’t be back in for him.

[pleat]

'Shimbomba' is back - confirmed:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ur/7850759.stm

I have a horrible feeling he's going to get booed on his 'second' debut, which isn't going to help anyone and 'Arry will probably moan at the fans again, like when he tried to bring on Ghaly.

Tbh, we'll just have to get on with it. He strengthen's our defensive options, no matter what you think of him as a man. As long as he shows more character on the pitch than just before he left last season, I think it's a reasonable signing for the money (~Ł3m?).

So we continue to rebuild Jol's team and soon a load more of Ramos' signings will also go...

Basically the last 18 months have been a total waste of time then!

With Chimbonda back does that mean you have 4 players you can play RB?

I suppose 4 dedicated RBs:

Corluka
Hutton
Gunter
Chimbonda

And Zokora isn't that bad there either

Rumour has it Hutton might be getting dumped very shortly, and Corluka plays all across the back 4 and defensive midfield.

regardless of the fact that Chimbonda is a fairly good player with a terrible atittude, did we even need a right back? Gunter was one of the few to do well against Utd and Corluka is surely our no.1, I can't remember our last half decent left back, do we have to go back to Ziege even?!

This must mean Harry really doesn't rate Hutton.
