Coppell got a fair bit last year if I remember correctly.

I had a quick think this morning, but am being a bit dopey, can someone please explain the away goals count only AET rule to me please? I don't really understand how it is fair - shouldn't away goals be judged on two periods of 90 mins?

they should, you are right. Redknapp's got a mouth like the blackwall tunnel, he could do with shutting it once in a while.

There isnt really anything to explain, that is the rule. Its been like that for some time.

I agree though it isnt fair.

I've tried to think of a worst player I've ever seen in a Spurs jersey than Gareth Bale and I'm honestly struggling. The guy is simply atrocious. Much like most of the team last night. I thought Bentley did ok last night, a lot better than he has been doing but the midfield was **** poor overall.

Harry has a major task if he's to keep us up this year. The most worrying factor about last night was the total inability of the team to scrap and battle for every ball and show an urgency to compete and fight their way to a positive result. Too many players just accepted the circumstances and went through the motions without actually giving a damn. Simply not good enough

If you've never seen worse than Bale, who is actually a very good footballer, then you've not been watching spurs long. Justin Edinburgh, Dean Austin, Ramon Vega, Steffan Freund - the list is not endless but it isn't far off

He was signed from an Italian club (surprise!) under Gross in 97 or 98 iirc.

What about signing (on loan) Andy Booth from Sheff Weds in the January transfer window of 2001!!! Thankfully it was never made permanent.

I'm not sure why there's such a fuss in the media about Harrys 'weakened team' comments, we have:

Heurelho Gomes (thigh)
Vedran Corluka (thigh)
Ledley King (hamstring)
Jamie O'Hara (groin)
Aaron Lennon (groin)
Jermaine Jenas (calf)
Hutton

all genuinely injured & Woodgate & Dawson carrying 'knocks' and in need of resting. Plus Bent too, allegedley. Palacios is suspended/cup tied & Campbell won't be allowed to face Man Utd, I'd assume. Unfortunately we're in a position were the league 3 points are far more important than cup progression & that will have to take priority. Hopefully Dos Santos & Taraabt get a game.

Oh dear, the result could be embarrasing with all those out.
we should play 451 and hope for the best and to keep the score down.

I don't think it'll be too bad tbh. If the first XI aren't putting in the effort, maybe the next tranch of players will! It's their chance to impress (Dos Santos possibly, Taarabt, etc).

I think ManYoo have some problems too, esp, in defence, so they'll have a (better) slightly weaker team too.

Regardless of form, Spurs ManYoo is always a good entertaining game at least.

For once, I don't really care which way the match goes tomorrow as long as it isn't a draw! If we win then it will be a great coup and if we lose it is one less game to be played, a draw doesn't really suit either team with fixtures starting to pile up.

Hmm not sure about that one he was good in his time. ( I remember a european goal he scored against Porto that was quite good)

I think Gregor Raziak(sp) takes the biscuit! That was a panic buy if ever I saw one?

I watched the Burnley highlights last night and I didn't think we were as 'end of the world' awful as some were suggesting. Burnley really played out of their skins and their keeper was almost as good as David James was at the weekend (what a legendary performance!). We were poor, don't get me wrong, but not truly awful.

Bale had an ok game for once, although he should always pass rather than shoot.

It seemed to be one of those nights where every shot they took went in and everything we fired at them was blocked (we had what? 10, 15 shots on goal). I don't even think all the blame can be laid at Alnwick's feet, the only real mistake he made was the mix up with the defender where they collided and he dropped the ball allowing the goal. He did incredibly well to keep out BAE's dreadful back pass/cock-up early on.

What I'm trying to say is that I don't think it's a game where you can read too much into the result especially with our injuries at the moment. Move on, give Taraab and Dos Santos a run out against Man U, see what they can do and try and work out a system to get a result against Stoke which is absolutely crucial.

So who wants to take the first stab at predicting the lineup for tomorrow...

I not actually sure quite where to start!

Well Ghaly has left so there is one less person to think about!

I would imagine the full backs and the keeper will remain the same with possibly Zokora dropping into the central of defense with Rocha. The midfield could be anything although I will go for Bentley, Huddlestone, Taarabt and Bale with Giovanni and perhaps Defoe again up front or Bent if he has recovered.

Looking at the squad, there really isn't much left unless he puts some youngsters in or plays some people he meant to rest!

would imagine it will be something like

Alnwick,
Gunter, Rocha, Dervite, BAE/youth player?
Santos, Hudd, Jenas/Zokora, Taraabt,
Bent, Pekhart

That's our 'weakest' line up without using kids. I actually think it's a bit unfair on these guys, if they get hammered it could seriously affect their confidenc and some of these players are on the fringes of the team
