Thumbs up Official Championship Thread 2008-2009

Well I have just had a look and there does not seem to be a thread for this season. So as a newcomer to this thread I better make the most of it as it could be a 1 season visit.

Teams involved are

Barnsley
Birmingham
Blackpool
Bristol City
Burnley
Cardiff
Charlton
Coventry
Crystal Palace
Derby
Doncaster
Ipswich
Norwich
Nottm Forest
Plymouth
Preston
QPR
Reading
Sheff Utd
Sheff Wed
Southampton
Swansea
Watford
Wolverhampton

TV matches this weekend are Blues v Blunts and Trees v Royals (think that should pass as not publishing fixtures )

I'm just hoping Forest can survive and put in good performances against the sheep. Tough few games to start off with especially with only 1 fit striker in Earnshaw.
Will miss the 1st game myself (season ticket holder) as I have been given a ticket for the Community Shield so thought I would make the most of that as I can not see Forest making a trip there anytime soon. Will watch the match when I get back later.

Cant wait for the new season to start. I'm a Burnley fan and will be going to Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow for the first game. Should be a good league this season. MarkR - Are Preston not entering the league this season? hehe

I'm worried for tomorrow Gazz, think your new signings will be up for it.

Whats your thoughts on James O'Connor ?

He's a decent player and should do well for Wednesday. New signings have played well preseason but that counts for nothing. Eagles should hopefully have a good game against his former loan club

A new season. A new year of every pundit and manager saying "The Championship is a much tougher division this year!".

God knows which Wolves team will turn up this season. My guess is plenty of draws, knocked out of the League Cup on penalties by Accrington Stanley, a win in the 3rd round of the FA Cup against a Prem team before losing in the next against Yeovil, a big winning streak in Feb that gets everyone's hopes up, and then finishing the season needing a win to get sixth place (therefore guaranteeing that we draw 1-1 which with Doncaster at home).

Why would anyone want to be a fan of a top Prem club, when instead you could have unpredictability like this!

Forest have been spending big so I think we might be the surprise package this season, hopefully we can just hold our own in the division.

1-0 away at Blackpool in front of 1700 cider heads and the gas lost at home...happy days.

Decent performance by the "Mighty Reds" today I thought.Knocked the ball round well , just lacked a cutting edge (a fair amount of injuries to our front few!!).
Typically for Forest , nearly threw it away at the end but for a top quality save from Smith.
Overall , gave me plenty of hope for the coming season

Cheers , Mike

Shades of seasons past for Saints, conceding in the last minute. Why do they hate me so?

Disappointing start for Palace yesterday. I guess a draw isn't a disaster but a point at home against a makeshift Watford side doesn't make for a great start.

Have very little optimism about this season - we've sold a couple of decent players but haven't replaced them with anyone of similar quality.

Is a draw away to Plymouth a bad result? I hope they sort it out

I dont think you should be unhappy with a point at Plymouth. It's not like Wolves are the favourites to go up.
