Interesting comments about the team.

Most people would seem to prfer to see Gerrard out on the right rather that marauding in from the centre.

Not arguing the point, just wondering whether he is most effective out there. Certainly shows our strength in depth this season.

Well he mostly played on the right last season and scored 20 odd goals as well as being PFA player of the year. He then played more central in the World Cup and was largely anonymous I think most people realise that our best side would include Momo, Xabi and Gerrard and the best way to fit them all in is to play Gerrard out wide. You will notice that when he plays on the right, he doesn't really play as a winger and stay out there though, I think having the other two in the middle gives him more freedom to attack

Is Sissoko back from injury and likely to be first choice in midfield? (Planning my FF team and until his injury last season, I thought he was looking excellent).

Good luck tonight (not too much though )

I don't think anyone apart from Carragher, Alonso, Reina and Gerrard can be fairly secure in playing the majority of our games. But Sissoko is fully recovered and ready to take no prisoners again

Can't wait to see the new red shirt in the flesh so to speak...

Should be interesting having Bellamy and Gerrard up front.

Let loose the dogs of war...

Their first shot on goal? Well taken but poor defending

Get in!

So it's 1-1 but this is ******* terrible. THERE IS NOTHING UP FRONT!!!!!! Gerrard needs to go off or to the right and Pennant off. Bellamy off and Crouch and Garcia on.

Trouble with Gerrard off a striker is that he does not play a disciplined second-striker role.
When he goes wandering Alonso should push up more.

What?

Are you serious?????????????

The lack of anything up front is down to the formation. And even then, it has worked OK - and we restricted them to only one decent chance.

And as a bellamy cynic, I have to say I thought he was by far and away the best player on the pitch. His awareness of others play, his willingness to work the whole length of the line, and the speed of reaction for that goal was awesome....and you want him to go off????????

The best players on the pitch that half were Momo and Bellamy. I would probably leave things for the first fifteen, and if nothing changes then think of making subs. I'm not sure if ITV even mentioned who was on the bench, but I think that Gerrard has probably, sadly, been one of the worst players and could probably give way (still not match fit).

EDIT

Just seen the subs bench on the official site.

Oh, dear. Looking very threadbare aren't we!

Hmmm, only three of those players could realistically play a part - Speedy, Crouch, and Garcia.

I'd bring on Crouch or garcia, and give Speedy a run out if we get another goal.

Momo, Pennant and Alonso were the best on the pitch, Bellamy's positioning is toilet. I stick by what I said. GARCIA WOULD OF BEEN ON THE END OF AT LEAST ONE OF THOSE 5+ DANGEROUS CROSSES THAT WENT THROUGH THE BOX!!!!!!

You know he is.

Remember though in his defence that he's not the best judge of strikers...

What game were you watching? Bellamy is having a good game, he is working hard and he scored a well taken goal.

The team look poor though, they look slow and tired. A good kick up the arse is what's needed.
