I see the latest rumour if the old Jose to Madrid one again.

New quotes in the Sunday rags about Reyes pleading to leave.

I for one wouldn't be too sad to see him go if we received about £12m for him. I think we have plenty of cover in that position with Freddie, RVP, Rosicky etc.

Having said that, if he was to go we would be giving out a clear signal that players are unhappy at Arsenal and that we are a selling club. I can't see Wenger spending even half of the possible £40m he could receive from the Cole and Reyes deals either.

Theres a really good article about this subject on Arseblog this morning -

Quote:
Fact is that all around us the top teams are bringing in players to strengthen their squads while ours appears to be getting weaker with no sign of any additions. Nobody knows anything about transfers. There are no rumours. No gossip and that’s unusual. As I said last week it’s probably because the club are playing their cards close to their chest but they need to move the cards away a little so they can see what’s on them.

It's ********, 'reports from Spain', my mate in Spain can't seem to find any of them in the weekends papers

I see Reyes has quickly denied them on Arse.com too.

As for seeing the back of him, if he's still unhappy (I'm guessing they're just recycled quotes from the NOTW) then he should go, but if not we'd be mad to sell him.

The kid is top TOP class, it's just getting it out of him each week! The new pitch and a (re)comitted Henry should help.

I'm not dissatisfied wuth the squad as it stands, just a bit of defensive cover.

On Lauren, I hear he's stated he should be back soon

Oh as for Arseblogger whinging there's been no rumours of transfers has he been under a rock or something since May?

It has gone decidedly quiet recently though, a better sign IMO....

I'm still not happy with the lack of signings, especially in defense. Cole is now in an impossible position, he won't/can't come back and if reports are true it looks like we are trying to screw over Chelsea.

For what its worth I'm gonna be one of the few people who will be sad to see Cole go, he IS the worlds best left back. Its just a shame that he got greedy and we didn't realise his unhappiness when we had the chance to keep him.

I won't be sad.

Eboue
Hoyte
Toure
Djourou
Cygan
Flamini

Clichy
Senderos
Lauren

Traore?
Connolly?
O' Ceaurill?

Surely Wenger won't be content with that pool of players?

Gonna need a lot of big performances fron Hoyte, Cygan & Flam at the start of the season if he is!

No question they are great prospects but not much experiance there, even Senderos only started 22 games last season, bringing his total Arsenal starts to 22!

I'll be sad to see him go too. When he put on the jersey he was 100% commited and Arsenal thru-and-thru before the Chelsea saga. He's still only 25 and has many years in him! Shame that the left back slot has to be replaced.

Was reading from this one: http://www.arsenal.com/player.asp?th...=4421&cpid=703

Anyway I still think our defence could do with at least one experienced player for a few seasons while the young un's bed in properly.

Rumours are that 23 year old Ghana defender Shilla Illiasu is on his way to Arsenal today for a trial with a view to a £1Million transfer. At least Wenger is looking around for defenders and not just rushing out to buy whoever is available at silly prices.

I spose it depends how much faith Wenger has in the Swiss pairing.

Me; I too would like a more experienced player in there and I believe Wenger did go for Thuram.

Now with Illiasu reportedly here maybe he's changed his mind

Should hopefully get a glimpse of Walcott and a few of the WC players this afternoon - 4PM kick off though

Wonder if Cole's there

We're currently in game against Schwadorf, were 2-0 up with goals from Van Persie and Djourou.

Its a strong Arsenal line up.

Almunia
Eboue
Toure
Hoyte
Djourou
Flamini
Gilberto
Fabregas
Reyes
Van Persie
Adebayor

Hoyte is playing on the left and is looking good, Van Persie for me has been the star of the show with some great touches and passes.

Reyes has been bright, but just missed a sitter
