It wasn't at the time - i.e. confirmed signed - which was announced, just as I posted, via Sky Sports News

seems a lot of money (by our standards) for a player who has hardly set the world alight wherever he's been. let's hope playing with a better class of player will bring out the best in pennant.

It does make you wonder how much we are going to pay for Kuyt should we get him .... we offer £10M, Feyenoord want £20M ... we pay £20M

the laugh is we never get anything decent back for the players we want rid off & end up giving them away or loaning them out for seasons on end

Whoever does liverpools transfer negotiations isnt really that good. Up to 8m for pennant from a div1 team is a bit of a joke, but then they loan traore out? Maybe they just want him off the wage bill, but I wouldnt be suprised if liverpool still pay 80% of his wages.

Are there any other teams who constantly loan ppl out rather than sell?

Quick Question.

Whats the best and preferably cheap way to watch Liverpool games on a semi-regular basis in the USA? California, to be precise?

Thanks!

When I was out in Florida in May I managed to see the cup final on PPV - $25 though, so not exactly cheap

Coverage of the Champions League is pretty good out here, ESPN has that, but without paying stupid amounts of money for a load of channels I don't need, I can't watch any premiership games live. Is the online service for watching games worth the money?

Thanks!

Ok, we've paid a sum of money now for Pennant, he's an LFC player so lets get behind him.

You can say we'd have got Alves for 2m more, but what about wages? The initial fee isn't the only cost of a transfer, just the headline maker. If Rafa and the board were prepared to meet Brum for Pennant and not for Alves, then I trust there are other factors we may not necesarily know about.

Not a bad summer in all, I think our squad looks healthier than this time last year.

Alves would have cost more than 2mil more, that was the stumbling block wasn't it? I think Pennant could be good for us, perhaps a better choice than Alves as he is an out and out winger

I wonder if there will be any more signings...

We arent questioning the player, we are questioning the fee which we are entitled to,it doesnt make you any less of a supporter. The board should be held accountable for their actions in the transfer market. If they paid the correct fee for him we would have had an extra couple of million to spend on another player.

did we not pay about 7M - 8M for Peter Crouch, when he was in div1

it just proves english players cost to much, & we wonder why clubs look aboard for cheaper options

its about time we got a few english based player in the squad, as i hate all the crap about abroad players need time to settle all the time ,

with Bellamy & Pennant, aleast we wont be saying there need time to settle as there have been playing in the PREM for a few years now

First, where did I say anyone was any less of a supporter? All I was saying is he was a less than popular choice but now he wears the shirt he should be backed unless he messes up again.

Secondly, What's the "correct fee"? It's not like a footballer has a BOM that can be calculated as a fixed price. Personally, If Rafa and the board feel he was worth 4, 6, 8 mill or whatever, then I'll trust them till he proves me wrong on the pitch.

I agree though, it would be nice to know the exact costs of transfers, put it all into perspective.
