Banned films.
I saw an old article in an old Empire mag the other day that had an article about films banned in the UK in 1986. Does anyone know of a website that shows what films are banned, the reasons behind it and what region dvd they can now be bought on. The mag was in a doctors surgery otherwise id have just torn the page out!
TIA

Empire probably nicked it off the site . That site's been going for years with that info.

There are quite a few films which were banned by the BBFC in the late 60s and 70s which remain banned because no-one has resubmitted them. This also means that they can't be shown on commercial TV while a rejection remains in force - as per the ITC's rules. (Having said that, I notice that Film Four has been submitting films themselves to the BBFC, meaning that The Trip has finally been certified and an uncut version of Spetters can be shown.)
But has anyone seen The Incident (1968, Martin Sheen's debut)? Or Robert Getting His Nipple Pierced (1972 documentary featuring Robert Mapplethorpe and Patti Smith - would have thought there'd be some interest there)? Or Joseph Strick's Tropic of Cancer (1971)? Or Dusan Makavejev's Sweet Movie (1975)?
The only one of those I have seen is Tropic of Cancer, which was shown on Sky in the late 80s. I wouldn't mind a chance to see the others. Are any of them on DVD?

'Good' as in 'gory and cheesy as edit'
By-passing the auto-sensor is against the T&Cs.
EDIT: Ah well...

Good as in a classic Zombie style 'gory' yet cheesy in the vein and feel of something like the feel found in the Evil Dead series or the like?

ZFE always had quite an eerie atmosphere as well as the gory fx. The scene where the main theme is playing over the wind as the rise is probably my fave part of the film.

the New York bits in ZFE are great, wish they'd stayed there ... pathetic bits like ... are sadly more the norm ... final scenes are ace though!

A pathetic bit? I love it.To this day I think how did they do that?
I do like the scene in New York as well, the sheer cheapness of it all is highly amusing to me,
I love Zombie Flesh-Eaters, absolutley love it!
The R1 Shriek Show version is one of my fave dvds and my dvd collection would feel incomplete without it.

just because it's impressive in a "how did they do that?" kind of way, doesn't mean it's good ... although it does add to the CheeseFactor™ ...

Max, we can agree on one thing - Zombi is a cheesefest! Like alot of Fulci films whether you take any enjoyment from them is dependent on you're frame of mind at the time ie. how much you've had to drink.
See makes perfect sense...

true, but i feel it's a bit shoehorned into the story, almost as if he'd thought up how to do the scene and engineered things to get it in ... plus ...

Maybe zombies are like penguins. Silly on the land but incredibly graceful under water?
