My sister used to have a sony micro system with an alarm - and if the micros do, surely their larger models do. Also I'm pretty sure that JVC midi's have an alarm, or at least will play the cd/radio at a set time.

Moving...

I have a Pioneer micro system, the one with the "pop-up" display, it had a built in alarm clock and a nice auto-sleep mode which sleeps at the end of the CD

Actually, had a quick look at a manufacturers website - looks like all of them have alarm/ sleep modes, but don't think it important enough to put on the short list of features!

I had a JVC midi-system (well it was bigger than a micro so I assume that is what it was) which had a good alarm clock - that was the thing I missed the most when I switched to seperates

Not sure but they don't make it now. Look at the Denon systems to see if they have it, they are very good quality.

I have a Sony DHC-MD373 (CD+RDS Radio+MD) midi system that wakes me up, can set the alarm to play a CD/MD, or turn on the radio etc, with the volume fading up slowly; and also has a sleep feature which can be set by time or just to shutdown when the CD ends. It's about five years old though. But I thought this was a pretty standard feature.

Unless you want it to sound an actual buzzer rather than play CD/radio? Mine can't do that.

Sure I've seen some decent Phillips and Sony systems recently with an alarm (both buzzer or radio or CD). Have you checked in a big Asda? They have quite a lot of this sort of thing.

Brad,

Search for 387693 @ Currys

Was that a bit more like what you were after first time 'round ? Saw one at Birstall shop earlier today as it happens.

Cheers flimber but ive just took summat back similar, at the moment I have a mini hifi in my bedrooom and im wanting something to replace that and have an alarm.

I also prefer to have the radio come on when the alarm goes not a buzzer. Ive seen a few today actually.

Comprendé.

BTW, just found on another forum that Boots are letting go of the Pure Bug DAB things for £54.50 (if you can find one). Complete steal. 10 timers / 2 alarms, radio and buzzer on completely seperate settings, records to SD card, plays MP3s. You only have to put up with it's wacky looks

I got myself a Creative CD740 CD/radio for Christmas and it's very impressive - the sound is amazing for the size, and it has more than enough power for a bedroom. I've had to turn the bass down as it's just too much for some tracks!

The best thing about it is that the 2 independent alarms can have different volume levels from the main volume, meaning you can leave it on low at night on a sleep timer and still be woken up in the morning. You can also choose to be woken up by radio, buzzer or CD, plus you can also choose what station/track you prefer.

Well just been to Currys and the assistant couldnt tell me whats what. Probably half the hi fi's had alarms but he said theres no way of finding out.

His words were "you'll have to take it home or go to comet"
