[F1] Canadian Grand Prix, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

ITV schedules to be confirmed, but don't expect any qualifying and coverage of the race will end after the first car passes the chequered flag. Not that you will even see this happen as it will be obscured by the scrolling message, "Coronation Street coming any minute now".

Weather forecast at this stage is for 'Thundery Showers' on the Friday & Saturday, but early forecasts have been wrong so many times already this season. A wet race (about 24 laps in ) would be welcomed though.

Do they not have some form of legal obligation to show qualifying live?

Sponsors don't pay millions for advertising on their cars for nobody to see them, I'd have thought there would be a clause in the contract saying what they had to show

I'm sure that the qualifying goes out live to a whole load of countries, just not to the UK.

As usual, in this country, the paying public have no say in what they can do!

Surely it cant be that difficult to show the qualifying on ITV 2 or 3

Until he pits three laps in!

Don't see how a car can improve so much unless they have little fuel

This should be damn good, just looking at the top 7 alone. First corner is going to be a tester. And if the ferrari in really that quick Barrichello will give us something to watch at the back of the grid as he fights to get back up.

He'll be in the pits on lap 15 and so will Schumacher. BARs pace has been consistent throughout the weekend, but seems like they had to get rid of some fuel to get track position.

Definitely running light, but looking forward to a good scrap between Button and Schumacher - should be good.

The problem is that Alonso will probably take Schumacher at the start given the fact that Schumacher isn't a good starter, and the fact that he is on the dirty side of the track.

Not sure if Both the Renaults will jump Schumacher and whether they'll be able to take Button too.

Expect a lot of commotion at the 1st and 2nd corners!!

Doesn't the pole sitter start on the left at Canada? In which case, given the left hander at Turn 1, Michael would be starting on the clean side of the track (on the right).

What are peoples thoughts for the race? The grid and relative speeds should give us a great race, in the early stages at least. I'm thinking that Jenson & Michael are lighter than the cars behind them, but maybe not excessively so - 2-4 laps less of fuel, giving them both the option of 3 stopping (if brake wear is an issue) or 2 stopping, with a long middle stint.

As for the rest. Fisi has always been successful here and I can see him finishing ahead of Fernando. Likewise Juan Pablo has a good history here (so to Ralf) and I wouldn't be surprised to see him outpace Kimi. Not convinced by Ron's poker face and I think Kimi didn't have a particularly good qualifying lap. I don't expect he'll be significantly heavier than anyone in front of him.

I suppose for the neutral and for the Championship to be 'wide-open', it would take FA to spin out first, so he'd be first out in qualifying at Indy too. Thinking of just my own interests though, I'll be cheering him on to maintain his gap on KR at the end of the race.

On my todd again......

Supposedly Renault have fixed an oil leak from Fernando's engine, rather than replace it and take a grid penalty.
